Prologue
There are two summoners that beat my team to pieces regularly. One is from the Untamed-Edition and turns me into mincemeat in basically all Wild-Tournaments, and the other one is the most OP card ever (we shall not say its name as the creator likes that, and we will not encourage him [though he's a cool dude]).
A couple of weeks ago I purchased some TRENDZ tokens to extend my watchlist on
Splintertrends - a page to track the card market - and to support the project. So, I had a few spots and said "What the heck, let's put on Yodin at 30$ and Tofu at 50$.
Yesterday, I checked my list - and saw both only $2 above my targets. Considering that Summoners are only going up in price with the Survival Mode, it felt like a "now-or-never" moment. I had let some really great summoners for greater prices slip because I wasn't sure. On those two, I was sure.
I didn't have neither DEC nor Credits for a purchase like that, so I decided to use some of my PayPal-Money to buy enough credits for the two of them. I never spent so much money on Splinterlands in one day I think. $84 for only two cards. And honestly - I was thinking about going all-in and buying two more copies of Tofu, so I can play it in Silver-League-Tournaments.
It's easier for me to go through credits. Turning my USD earned in Ecuador into DEC in Splinterlands requieres many steps - first, turn into Euros on my German bank account (that alone is difficult). Then, transfer it to the Kraken Account and buy Dodge. Then, wait for it to be released (48h). Then, transfer it to the Hive-Engine. Then, buy the DEC. Then, transfer the DEC into my SPL-Account. The market doesn't wait that long. And I don't have the patience. And I feel like I support the Splinterlands-Team by buying Credits.
Why the two of them?
I think Tofu is a game changer. I lost so many times in so many tournaments against it, that I'm pretty sure this one card will give me enough of an edge to win more in Novice and Bronze Tournaments, sometimes even in Silver. The Thorns are just too useful, and can make up for the difference in Monster-Levels. If I had Tofu on Level 2, I would probably even play it frequently in my Gold-Level-Brawls, and win a lot.
Yodin is not a candidate for level 2. I do play Wild up to Silver Level, but just like the Thorns with Tofu, it's the Blast that I want from Yodin. He will be great for Novice and Bronze, and together with Tofu, I know have the best possible choices for Fire, Life, Nature and Water (with Max Pruitt that I already got by luck).
Who else?
I have a few more cards on my watchlist. Mainly Almo Cambio, Lord Arianthus, Cornealus - but also Igor Darkspear, who I want at better prices. Not very necessary, though. Oh, and the Llama of course, but at 20$ - I saw it there once, and didn't buy. Still beating myself up about it.
I would love to get my hands one to three copies of Lorkus, and another two of both Tofu and Pruitt. Patience. Can't spend my money just like that...
Conclusion
THIS! FEELS! AMAAAAAZIIIIIIINNNNNG! Really. And it's not just a feel-good-buy, but definitely the result of a lot of reflection and analysis. Both will make my deck a lot stronger in the majority of tournaments that I play. Really looking forward to learning how to use them rigth!
