Splinterlands Mobile App is BACK — And It’s a Big Deal!

2025-05-16T12:06:03

Hey SplinterFans,
It’s that time of the week again, and today I want to dive into something that honestly feels like a massive step forward for Splinterlands… the mobile app is finally back! And yes, it’s currently just Android for now, but still, it’s up, running, and playable — and that’s huge.
As someone who’s been in this game for a while, I can confidently say this isn’t just a small “quality of life” thing. This is a big milestone for attracting new players.

The Right Steps, Taken Patiently

Let’s be real — it’s been a bit of a wait. But from what I’ve seen, the team has taken the right steps in the right order, and that’s worth appreciating.
First, they brought the main website up to speed with a tech modernization overhaul. The old site on mobile? Yikes. It was pretty much unusable — buttons too small, layouts breaking, super frustrating to navigate. Now? It's mobile-friendly, responsive, and just feels modern.
Then came the lite accounts — probably one of the smartest decisions yet. Allowing new players to jump in without paying anything, earn Glint, and use that to buy Soulbound Reward Packs? That's massive. It gives curious players a chance to test the waters before dropping the $10 for a spellbook or buying any cards. Plus, when they’re ready to commit, they get 5 Starter Packs + 3,000 Credits. That’s a great head start.
And now the app — a cherry on top. I know iOS is still in the works, but the Android release is a very promising sign. 🎉

Installed the App

If you have been using the app and you like it leave a review in the store so more people can find enjoy this amazing game.

💪 A Shoutout to the Team

I gotta give props where it’s due. The Splinterlands team isn’t operating at the same size it once was. They've had to deliver features, manage updates, keep the community informed, and rebuild foundational systems all at the same time.
As someone who works with software myself, I know how long it takes to build something solid and release it without breaking a million things. This mobile app launch might seem simple on the surface, but it represents months of prep. Really, huge thumbs up from me. 👏👏👏

🧪 My Mobile Experience So Far

So what’s it like to actually use the app?
Well, install and setup were super easy. If you're familiar with Hive, just pop in your Hive username and posting key, and you're good to go. You’ll be prompted for your active key for specific actions — nothing new there.
Once inside, everything feels pretty intuitive. The interface mirrors the web version, so it’s easy to navigate. I mostly use it for market actions and land harvesting. Battles? Still prefer my PC for the big screen experience — but who knows, I might get used to the smaller layout if I grind enough. Last brawl cycle i actually used it to enter my battles, all went smooth.

🐞 Some Suggestions and Minor Issues

Of course, nothing's perfect. A few things I’d love to see improved, and these are imho small things:
  1. Searching for battle blocks the menu — On mobile, when you're queuing for a match, you can't navigate elsewhere. On PC, you can still browse while you wait.
  2. Land screen buttons need better placement — To get to the Harvest screen, you have to scroll horizontally, which isn’t obvious.
  3. “Harvest All” needs a region switcher — It’s a bit clunky to go back, switch region, then hit “Harvest All” again.
  4. Double posting key prompt — Once I was asked to input my posting key again even though it was already added. Didn’t re-enter it and things still worked fine.
  5. The first time I harvest on land the spinner stays, full reload was needed to remove the spinner. After that is was all fine. This happened twice in consecutive days.
  6. Scroll reload bug — There was one screen where scrolling up refreshed the whole page. Can’t find it now, maybe it’s already fixed? 👍
    Edit
Found it again it in the filter section when you scroll down then release your finger then try to scroll up again you often grab the complete screen triggering a full reload. Also note the label offset

✅ What Works Well

Buying packs, opening them, checking market prices — all smooth. I even enjoy tracking Conclave Arcana prices on mobile now. 👀 It’s honestly easier than opening my laptop sometimes.
If you ask me? The mobile app is better than trying to use Hive Keychain app and then using the internal web browser there. A bit more user-friendly.

📊 New Player Signups Are Up!

And here’s the cool part: since the Conclave Arcana presale launch and the mobile app release, we’ve seen a nice uptick in player signups. 🚀
It’s too early to say what the full impact will be, but it’s a very positive sign. Next step? Watching how many of those players end up buying the spellbook — that’s the real signal for early retention. But the trend looks good.

These gains are happening without any massive paid marketing pushes either (as far as i know). Aside from some Twitter posts from the team and tons of community content, it’s been pretty organic if you asked me.
Y’all — we’re doing this together. 🫡
Let’s keep the momentum going. Help new players, keep sharing guides, answer questions, and keep the community welcoming. The foundation is being laid — and now we have an app that brings Splinterlands closer to being a truly mobile-friendly game. That’s worth celebrating!

Till next week — stay epic, see you all on the battlefield 💥
