Comment behavior and engagement

Obviously the previous post wasn't enough! Whenever there are above 100 comments on a post, I think there was a lot to be said that wasn't said in detail. That requires more plots and more words :)
I present you with a curious plot which I think I will spend quite a bit of time explaining. First thing is the two axes. X-axis is comment count in last 6 months for active hiver (for that definition, please see this post). Y-axis is the Comment Ratio. Again as a reminder:
Comment Ratio (CR) = Number of Comments / Number of posts
The circle size is the comments/day.
What I am trying to accomplish from this plot is to separate the automated messages (I call them spam) from the messages from legitimate humans. The plot gives us a wide band but with very definite upper and lower ends. These ends are defined by the Yellow and Green lines respectively. The folks who plot near the upper yellow line, comments more than they post, relatively speaking. There is nothing wrong with it, that is just their commenting behavior. People who plot near the lower green line, comments less than they post, relatively speaking. Those that plot low near the origin are less engaged than those that plot higher. I plot us "magnificent seven", and you can see that we are different, but we plot in the middle.
Boomy plots higher towards the yellow, as he posts sporadically and comments a lot. Galen and Taraz posts a lot and comments a lot, but Galen comments more than Taraz. I plot smack in the middle, the perfect average guy! :) Mind you this is not due to any prompt. This is just our typical behavior over last 6 months. So, whatever, this shows is real; this is the way to react on this blockchain.

So What?

Well, I am telling you. Here are the things I like to do:
  • If you want your name to be displayed and find out where you are please let me know
  • If you are at the lower end of the plot, you are not engaged
  • If you think or know that your posts are not getting enough traction this could be one reason
  • If you want to improve, comment more
  • If you want to comment more, do thoughtful comments that show you read the post and are interested
  • If you have done all these for six months and still haven't had any traction, ping me
I can help.
If you are a spammer, also please ping me :)
I can help there as well, but you may not like that help.
