Maimed
Am I alive or my life is a lie
If my lips stay sealed
I will die
When I kiss you goodbye
and watch you leave
or nod to a passerby
What is self expression
If nobody understands it?
I need to feel connection
You judge me every moment
Yet say you want to know me
Indeed my life's lament
I'm not ashamed
I am who I am
Though I'm hurt and maimed
