Hi all coffee lovers, hope you're all having a great day and have already had your coffee. Back again, I would like to share a cafe from my hometown Yogyakarta Indonesia, which captured my attention. The name of the cafe is Kopi Kolondjono or Kolondjono Coffee in English. The name Kolondjono, according to my own research, refers to a type of grass commonly found in the tropical region of Africa and America which is popularly used as cattle feed.
Located right in the street corner of quiet neighborhood, the place is relatively small compared to most cafes which I have visited. However, despite its small size, I can feel from its outside look that it must be quite cozy inside. Brick walls, large window, warm light, and a rack of books which seems to be a mini library, increases my curiosity to go inside. As I entered, I found that the cafe is actually attached to a house. Yes, it's actually a normal house that somehow, the owner modified it and turned some part of the house into a cafe.

The main terrace used as outdoor seat and the entrance is the small door which surely used to be a small access to the garden. On the sign, it's written Yoga which means the place also held Yoga session at particular days. I entered the cafe and I quickly felt the "homie" ambience, surely it is supported by the fact that the cafe is actually a house turned into a cafe but more than that, the decoration is just awesome.
I went inside and quickly felt the old homie ambience like my grandma house. Old sofa and chair located near the entrance door gave you a vibe of a family room. What made me more fascinated was the Ghibli toys and artworks (mostly Totoro and Spirited Away) decorated in some parts of the room which created such a Ghibli vibe and Ghibli cartoons are among of my childhood favorite.

I ordered their hot cappuccino, if you wish to drink other than coffee, they also had non-coffee menu such as : chocolate and matcha. The menu price in here is considered to be middle but still affordable. Apart from drinks, they also served food started from light munchies like potato wedges, chicken nugget until heavy meals like spaghetti and chicken steak. The place also has a rack full of books of novel, literature and life philosophy for those who loves reading. If you are coming in group and want to do some fun, the place also has a quartets card game with the theme of Indonesian culture for you to play on. What a fun way to learn about culture with your friends !
The cappuccino I had tasted so nice with a strong bold taste of coffee. Wondering how the other menu would tasted like including the non coffee. Perhaps, on my next visit I will try them. I did some work in the cafe and felt so comfortable as it was quiet, homie and the "learning space" atmosphere of the cafe were such a great feature to improve my mood for work. Moreover, the Ghibli characters which "accompany" you by "standing" around some parts of the cafe become the fun and childhood memories vibe in the place. Definitely a perfect place for you who wants to do some work or study in a quiet, homie and intimate.
I will surely pay a visit to this place again to try their other menu and perhaps I will come during the day time on my next visit to feel a different ambience. I imagine this place would feel perfectly cozy and chill during the afternoon time and it is raining outside. But, one thing to note is this cafe only start opening on the afternoon, so its not a place for you to have a morning coffee.
Well...that's my short story from this small cafe that despite of its small size, it has many pleasant stuff to offer. If you are Ghibli lover in Yogyakarta or planning to go to and looking for a place to chill, study or work in a quiet, homie and chill ambience, I do strognly recommend to visit this one. Hope you all having a great day and don't forget to drink your coffee today 😉
