Such a beautiful new week. New vibe, new project and new goals.
I present to you the vee built up panel blouse.
Lately, my clients have been exploring various necklines and I think I like it.
Sometimes, it necessary we task ourselves and step out of our comfort zones.
We don't always want to do basic. This blouse neckline was inspired by a popular fashion icon. Her name is Prudential. She rocked the neckline and everyone wanted to have such beauty in their closet, so does my client.
My client walked into my office with a picture of what she wanted and I got to work.
Every outfit begins with the basic bodice which is usually altered afterwards.
I drafted her basic bodice using a princess buster cut. I extended the neckline starting point by three inches and came down by 0.5 inches for the back.
For the front, I extended the neckline by three inches as well but I came in by 1 inches around the sides for the neck tightening so that it doesn't gape.
I connect the one inches down to two inches away from the chest line.
For the panel, I extended the blouse length width by 8 inches using an extra paper and securing with my paper tape.
Here's what the front of the blouse looks like after cutting.
And here's what the back also looks like.
The next thing I did was to transfer my pattern onto the fabrics.
I also interfaced each part to add rigidity and stabilityto the fabric.
I also cut out a breast pad to add flesh to the bustier cut.
All of these requires pining so that the cutting doesn't go wrong.
The next thing is the sewing part. I started with the bustier, Secured firmly with my machine before joining other pieces together.
To give the blouse a wavy effect, I used crinoline at the hem of the blouse and turned with lining.
For the sleeves, I made a very ouffy Tri quarter sleeve and it actually complimented the blouse.
After sewing, I paired with a pant. One thing I love about this blouse is it's versatility. It can be worn on a skirt, short or pant. I think I also love the fabric too because it has a touch of black which is a neutral color.
It's time to check out this beauty. Let's start with the up close view.
The sides of the blouse. (Including the sleeve view)
Do you see how firm and beautiful the hem of this blouse is? That's what the crinoline does.
Let's see the front view.
The back view.
Now, the full front view.
I enjoyed working on this project because it was a seamless experience. I had little or no challenge during the course of this project. I also love how everything came out nicely, from the bustier, to the neckline to the blouse hem.
What do you love most about this blouse and would you rather rock this on a skirt?
