Hello friends! Welcome to my today's blog. Humans are social creatures. We need food to survive and lead a healthy life. Food is one of the basic human rights. But due to a little carelessness, food becomes toxic to the body. That is possible because of microorganisms. Huge amount of microorganisms are present in our surrounding environment such as air, soil and water.
So now let's find out, what is microorganism. You may have understood by hearing the name, microorganisms means very small organisms that we cannot see with the naked eye. If you want to see microorganisms then you must have a microscope, be it a normal or an electronic microscope. Microorganism include Bacteria, viruses, mold, yeast etc. Microorganism can be harmful or useful. Let's understand it easily with a common example. When bread is kept in open air for a long time in our house, we see a light green color coating on the surface of the bread. This is mainly due to mold. These types of breads are very unhealthy for us, so never forget to eat it! When food is kept at high temperature, Microorganism is affected and food spoils very quickly. This leads to wastage of food. When food is microbially affected, it creates severe diseases in the body such as: dysentery, cholera, diarrhea, food botulism etc. If proper measures are not taken, these diseases can also cause death to humans.
Some Microorganism are useful for us. If you take a spoonful of yogurt and put it under a microscope, you will see thousands of bacteria fighting among them๐๐. That is why do not be afraid to eat yogurt, because they are very beneficial for the body especially for our gut health. Some beneficial bacteria live in the gut, which help digest indigestible carbohydrates and prevent colon cancer, constipation etc. Microorganism plays an important role in many industries for the preparation of many products by fermentation. Fermented bacteria converts milk into yogurt, cheese and butter etc. Similarly, carbohydrates such as sugarcane juice are used to produce alcohol. Also, various useful bacteria live in the soil, which are known as "natural plows". Because they decompose various organic and inorganic materials into compost and help increase soil fertility and increase yield.
For this, we need to reduce harmful microorganisms and make proper use of useful microbes. For this, we need to increase our awareness. Essential safety matters should be taken during food preparation, washing hands before eating, food should be covered well so that microbes do not enter the food through air.
Awareness of the general public about food safety should be increased through various awareness programs.
