Crypto Jargons Explained

By @addempsea1/20/2018cryptocurrency

Steemit introduced me to the world of cryptocurrency. In quest to fully maximize the potentials of crypto trading, I joined a forum on Telegram.

In there, although most of them wrote in English, I couldn't understand most of their conversations. They were using words and terms I had never seen in my life.

Even my dictionary didn't have these words in it, so I did what everyone does when in doubt, I asked Google.

Only after then did I understand all the jargon and I wasn't lost in the conversation no more.

But if you are new to the crypto world, you most likely won't know what any of these things mean. Correct???

In these crypto communities, a new generation of vernacular has been developed. If you must join a conversation about crypto without knowledge of these jargon, you will definitely feel left out.

Today, I am going to try to explain some of these common jargon in the crypto world.

1. HODL

2. ATH
When the price of a certain coin is trading at the highest price it has ever achieved.

3. Bear
Coined from wall Street people. This refers to an investor who believes the price of a coin will fall and aims to profit from the fall.

4. Rekt
An intentional misspelling of "wrecked". When the downfall of a price of coin ruins an investor.
5. FOMO

6. FUD
Fear, uncertainty, and doubt. This refers to a situation where an investor is unsure of the prospects of a market.

7. TO THE MOON
This is the steady or unsteady continuous rising in price of a cryptocurrency.

8. ADDY
Refers to a cryptocurrency public address.
Like, "Give me your Ether ADDY"

So next time a BEAR tells you a coin is at an ATH and is going to the MOON, and you want to invest because of FOMO, make proper investigation so as not to get RKT.
