I Tried TikTok(And I Regret It)...

Almost eight years ago, I deleted my Facebook account, and since then, I’ve never opened a new one—and frankly, I don’t plan on doing so anytime soon. I use Twitter, though. I’m an excessive Twitter user, but other than that, I’ve pretty much stayed away from traditional social media.
Soon after quitting Facebook, I found out about Hive, and this thing is so different from anything else out there. At some point last year, though, I created a YouTube channel with the intent of making faceless videos, hoping to earn some money from it.
The channel isn’t doing great—I barely got 180 views on my most-watched video. Then yesterday, I came up with the brilliant idea of getting into TikTok and posting the same content I put on YouTube over there as well. Less than 24 hours later, I quit TikTok.
The content I posted there gained way more traction than it did on YouTube, but there was a problem... My latest video was about "the hidden hand" gesture used by Masons and important figures worldwide, and it got taken down. Apparently, it was against their guidelines.
That tells me one thing: TikTok is the same shit as Facebook and every other centralized platform out there. And I don’t need that. It’s useless to me if I can’t express myself freely. This whole situation made me realize that in order to succeed on traditional social media, you have to stick to the mainstream niches.
I’m not that type of person. I don’t pour water and wheat over my head for the sake of likes. I don’t believe in the dumbing down of the population, and I don’t want to be a part of that. Unfortunately, alternative perspectives and content aren’t allowed on TikTok. So, I had to get rid of it.
It’s a shame Hive isn’t getting the recognition it deserves, but on the other hand, it’s clear why. It doesn’t fit the official narratives, and it wouldn’t be useful for the mass dumbing-down process they’re carrying out, so the big names in social media have no interest in it.
Social media should be like a giant library—a place where people come to expand their knowledge. Instead, it’s just a machine for wasting time, adding zero value to those consuming the content.
It’s hilarious to see that technology is making us less human, less creative, and less intelligent rather than turning us into superhumans. Not what I was expecting, honestly... Anyway, I tried TikTok (for a day), quit it, and will never go back (same as with Facebook).
Hope everyone’s having a fantastic day—catch you all next time.
Thanks for your attention,
Adrian
