By chance, I passed by a small shop that looked nothing special, the front old, the signboard simple, but I was hungry so I just came in to try. Who knew.😁 omg inside this shop is super long and wide 😳 Don't let this ugly restaurant fool you! It has interesting food inside.
The space is airy but there’s no air conditioner, so if it’s on a 40-degree sunny day, sorry, I will turn around 😅.
Anyway, the food is the thing worth talking about! Plus point with me yummy food is okay🤭
🍜 Fish vermicelli with crispy pork fat – sounds strange but actually very matched
The fish vermicelli here is cooked with fried tilapia, golden and crispy, especially the fish is deboned so eating is very safe, no worry of choking bone. Fried fish crispy, eat with broth a bit sour from tomato, fragrant with green onion, green mustard vegetables fresh. Usually, many places use dill, but I feel green mustard vegetables are cooler and less pungent. They also have fried mackerel but I prefer tilapia because tilapia is tastier and cheaper. I recently had mackerel at home and found it quite dry, so if you go to eat bun ca in Vietnam, I recommend you eat crispy tilapia. Crispy tilapia if you just eat them when they are fried, the taste is nothing special. I can also buy tilapia to fry at home, only 4 dollars for 2 kg of fried tilapia if I buy it at the market and cook it myself.

Eating here, we need to pay 1.5 dollars but only get to eat 4-5 pieces of tilapia but they are submerged in hot broth, the fish flavor also increases 10 times more delicious. That's what I want to say, the broth of bun ca is super delicious. Inside the bowl also has crispy fried tofu, soft tomato, all mix very tasty 👌
💥 And here, the special thing is... crispy pork fat. Sounds greasy, right? But not at all! Pork fat is fried crunchy, no bad smell, not greasy but fatty, fragrant. Thought not matched but very matched 😍. Hot fish vermicelli with crispy pork fat is perfect! In some countries, pork fat may be discarded, but here we turn it into something fun to eat. Honestly, I find pork fat soaked in broth incredibly delicious😭
Ah forgot, vermicelli here is fresh vermicelli, not dried one boiled, the noodle soft and naturally sweet. One bowl like I ate is 35,000 VND – too cheap for a full breakfast 💸.
🥚 Duck egg with mugwort – side dish but worth trying
Besides fish vermicelli, I ordered more duck embryo egg cooked with mugwort, price only 10,000đ/egg, I ordered 2 🍽. Total not even 1 dollar but got a bowl very nutritious. Egg is cooked with mugwort a bit bitter but fragrant, eat feel sweet aftertaste, very comfortable. This dish no need to say much, who headache, joint pain or want beautiful skin should try, like “eat healthy without medicine” 🌿.
⏰ Shop only opens in morning
Small note is shop only sells morning until about 11am, so who want to eat must wake up a bit early. Besides fish vermicelli, next time I will try snail vermicelli, heard people next table also praised 🐌.
