First, the arrogance of the British colonial Empire, which decided to promise a part of their realm to European Zionists. And then the arrogance of the Zionists who took that twice-promised land, first by God, then by the British, as their settler colonial project to create a Jewish ethno-state in a place where Arabs already had lived for thousands of years. Contrary to what the mainstream wants us to believe, the Israeli Zionists have been the aggressors in this tragedy from the beginning, 75 years ago. Until that time there existed a country called Palestine. In that area exists a country called Israel as an apartheid state. This is the reality on the ground; without understanding or knowing this, it's impossible to come to terms with what's happened on and since October 7.

You know, that feeling of knowing something's not right, saying that something terrible's about to happen, but no one's listening.source: YouTubePalestinians living in Gaza however, have been shouting at a physical wall, built by the people who stole their land, drove their people off the land, stole and destroyed their houses and their businesses, renamed their streets and towns, and confined all 2.2 million of them to a small strip of land along the coast, 25 miles long and 5 miles wide. Maybe I'll write a longer post in the future going into more detail about how Palestine was transformed into Israel, but for now, I'll do a short one about Gazans shouting at the wall, one young Gazan in particular.

Is that headline shocking enough for you? In all of human history, one rule stands vast: in war, truth is the first casualty. Also, to get a country's young men and women to kill other young men and women they don't know, those other young men and women need to be demonized. In the half-century that I've been alive, no nation has taken this strategy to the extremes we've witnessed in the Israel-Palestine conflict.

A small part of my heart breaks every day as news about the genocidal violence of the Israeli Defence Force against the Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank gets more gruesome. There's no doubt about it: the goal is to wipe the Palestinian people off the map, and our Western governments are complicit.

Without exaggerating we can now say that the Israel-Palestine conflict has reached biblical proportions once again. Maybe it's even safe to say that the entire 100-year war between these peoples is of biblical proportions, for it is in large part a religious conflict between followers of two distinct Abrahamic beliefs. Right?

Social platforms, mainstream media and conversations around the dinner table and at the workplace are buzzing with debates about social constructs like race, religion and gender. However, somehow the true nature of time in general and clock time in particular has escaped the attention of wider society. The clock has become, much like money, the thing it was only meant to represent. Well, it isn't, and maybe it's time to reconsider our relation with the clock.
