Roasting coffee at home to better enjoy.

Warm greetings to coffee lovers. I love to drink coffee. It is a family tradition that is lost in the threshold of the history of my country and my people. Like all good coffee drinkers I have my own customs and I know the sayings and customs of the people around me. My mother-in-law says that coffee should be drunk sitting down so that it can be enjoyed well. My husband says that it is better to make it hot, my neighbor says that coffee should be sweet, that life is already bitter enough. And my cousin laughs and says that she is like coffee and when they tell her: strong? She replies: no daughter, no, ground and powdered.

What I like most about coffee is to have the raw beans and roast them over a slow fire myself. I buy a pound of coffee beans from some farmer. I pick them out, take out the garbage he can bring. Then I light charcoal in the backyard, liquefied gas is scarce around here. I put a pot to heat and pour the beans in it.

Little by little the patio is flooded with the delicious aroma of roasted coffee. Everyone in the neighborhood finds out that I am doing this work and later they come to taste the fine beverage. Another saying is that the smell of coffee as well as the smell of guava cannot be hidden.

You have to stir it well because it can burn. It takes me almost half an hour to stir the beans and when it reaches a medium brown roast I remove it from the fire. You'll see it smoke and as if it were my mom, that steam finishes the roasting.

When it has cooled a little my husband takes it to the mill and in a few seconds it is already made into a wonderful powder that relieves our headaches, makes us talk with the family and enjoy the fruit of the fruit of my labor.

I tell you that I am fortunate, it has been a long time since my country has had a lack of coffee through the traditional supply channels. Most of the time we have to buy it from people who bring it from abroad at very high prices. The most consumed brand is "La llave". After the coffee is ready, I distribute a few ounces in small packages for my friend Yaimara and my mother-in-law and finally I make my coffee and sit down to enjoy my valuable work.

What do you think? Would you like to make your own coffee? Have you done it? I guarantee it's great, I just think that you should keep in mind to take precautions in order to burn yourself and not burn the beans. Congratulations and come and taste the coffee at my house.
