As some of you probably already saw, we finally made it!!! Yesterday we pushed out our new map & @peakd included some map functions into their front end🤗🤗🤗
With the current changes to the front-end, the main focus was
- rebuilding it renovating the code
- making the app as simple to use as possible, especially on mobile version
- implementing the changed clustering algorithm
- make it way faster (3x faster with 4x the number of pins being displayed)
- Implement it in peakd to make it easier to pin your post directly at post creation
The map from before and its code was 7 years old, so we decided to redo it from scratch fixing a lot of things at once. As you can see, not only the code was redone, but also the look and feel are different and we have built a few new features for you.

WorldMappin Stats
Clicking on the logo at the bottom center of worldmappin.com and you will get the popup window with the current worldmappin stats such as the current total number of pins we have on the world map, broken down by continent and the statistics on how many new posts have been pinned to the world map in the past 7 days. On the right side, you can see the current team of
@worldmappin.Better Speed
We are 3-5x faster now while displaying 4x the number of pins. By changing the clustering algorithm, we went from being able to display 30k pins on the map to much more than we currently have, which is 120k pins. Also when you zoom in now it will actualize faster and not kick you out anymore.
New look and feel & Mobile Enhancements
The map is now modern, fast, and easy to use and the pins better to see. When clicking on them, you will see the post overview. They are ordered by date.
For us, it was also very important to have it mobile-friendly as many of us use it mostly with cell phones traveling. So we managed to make it work fast and easily on the mobile version and we focused on the usability there.
The personal Map
You can now access your improved personal map at https://worldmappin.com/@YOURUSERNAME, with your smartphone or PC / laptop. We have improved the views here to show more and better details about your map. Of course, you can also filter any other blogger that you like and view their stats and pinned posts very easily.
On the top left side, you can see the user's picture and the number of pins already put on the map. When you click on it, you see all the pinned posts ordered by date.
From the recent changes in PeakD, you will also find WorldMapPin integrated in a couple of spots. You will find the full integration of worldmappin at
https://peakd.com/mapsAnother place where you can see the map integration in PeakD is directly in your post. If you have made a pin on the map, you can now scroll down to see the location of the post:
Also, you are now able to use WorldMapPin directly in PeakD. For that, you will need to go to your settings and enable the Map view, after which you will be able to see your personal map in your profile. (Note: it is still using the outdated code, so if you don't see your pin, go to WorldMapPin and double-check. - New code will be linked soon)
If you haven't noticed already, you are now also able to create a pin directly from PeakD.

Como algunos de ustedes probablemente ya han visto, ¡¡¡Finalmente lo logramos!!! Ayer publicamos nuestro nuevo mapa y Peakd incluyó algunas funciones de mapa en su front-end 🤗🤗🤗🤗.
Con los cambios actuales en el front-end, el enfoque principal fue
- reconstruirlo renovando el código
- simplificar al máximo el uso de la app, especialmente en la versión móvil
- implementar el algoritmo de clustering modificado
- hacerlo mucho más rápido (3x más rápido con 4x el número de pines que se muestran)
- Implementarlo en peakd para que sea más fácil fijar tu post directamente durante la creación del mismo.
El mapa de antes y el código ya tenían 7 años, así que decidimos rehacerlo desde cero arreglando muchas cosas a la vez. Como puedes ver, no sólo el código fue renovado, sino que también la apariencia es distinta y hemos creado algunas características nuevas para ti.

Estadísticas de WorldMappin
Al hacer clic en el logotipo en la parte inferior central de worldmappin.com obtendrás una ventana emergente con las estadísticas actuales de worldmappin, como el número total de pines actuales que tenemos en el mapamundi, desglosado por continente y las estadísticas sobre cuántos nuevos mensajes se han fijado en el mapamundi en los últimos 7 días. A la derecha, puedes ver el equipo actual de
@worldmappin.Mejor velocidad
Ahora somos 3-5 veces más rápidos mientras mostramos 4 veces el número de pines. Al cambiar el algoritmo de agrupamiento, pasamos de poder mostrar 30k pines en el mapa a mucho más de lo que tenemos actualmente, que son 120k pines. Además, al hacer zoom ahora se actualizará más rápido y ya no te expulsará.
Nuevo aspecto y mejoras para móviles
El mapa es ahora moderno, rápido y fácil de usar y los pines son más visibles. Al hacer clic en ellos, verás el resumen de los posts. Están ordenados por fecha.
Para nosotros, también era muy importante que fuera fácil de usar para móviles, ya que muchos de nosotros la utilizamos sobre todo con teléfonos móviles cuando viajamos. Así que nos las arreglamos para que funcionara rápida y fácilmente en la versión móvil y nos centramos en su usabilidad.
Tu mapa personal
Ahora puede acceder a tu mapa personal mejorado en https://worldmappin.com/@YOURUSERNAME, con smartphone o PC / portátil. Hemos mejorado las vistas aquí para mostrar más y mejores detalles sobre tu mapa. Por supuesto, también puedes filtrar a cualquier otro blogger que te guste y ver sus estadísticas y publicaciones ancladas muy fácilmente.
En la parte superior izquierda, puedes ver la foto del usuario y el número de pines que ya ha puesto en el mapa. Al pulsar sobre él, se ven todos los posts pineados ordenados por fecha.
Integración con PeakD
A partir de los recientes cambios en PeakD, también encontrarás WorldMapPin integrado en un par de lugares. Encontrarás toda la integración de worldmappin en
https://peakd.com/mapsOtro sitio donde puedes ver la integración del mapa en PeakD es directamente en tu post. Si has puesto un pin en el mapa, ahora puedes desplazarte hacia abajo para ver la ubicación del post:
Además, ahora puedes utilizar WorldMapPin directamente en PeakD. Para ello, tendrá que ir a su configuración y activar la vista de mapa, después de lo cual podrás ver tu mapa personal en tu perfil. (Nota: todavía se utiliza el código obsoleto, por lo que si no ves tu pin, ve a WorldMapPin y vuelve a comprobarlo. - El nuevo código se incluirá en breve)
Por si aún no te has dado cuenta, ahora también puedes crear un pin directamente desde PeakD.
