Love a cafe with pretty food and a pretty decorations to lift the atmosphere? This cafe is probably just the place!

"Social Hideout" is a cafe based a Sydney suburb called Waterloo and it is an approximate 10-15 minutes drive from the city centre. Beautifully decorated with faux florals hanging off their ceilings and walls, this cafe makes the perfect spot for a meal with friends, family or even a date! They've also got long tables which makes it suitable for larger groups to dine-in.

We visited the cafe on a weekday to make sure we avoid the queues that are usually apparant on the weekends. This place is quite popular for the aestheics of the cafe and food.

The cafe serves a variety of Asian-Western fusion dishes as well as unique drinks. Vegeterian and vegan options also available!

The most exciting part is their food! All the dishes tasted really good and were very well presented! Not to forget to mention - colourful!

Left: Hibiscus Grapefruit - Fizzy, tangy, sour and a little sweet.
Right: Green Mojito (mocktail) - hint of apple, pear and lemon taste. Tiny bit of mint and a little bit fizzy.

Silly Salmon - Teriyaki Salmon with green tea vermicelli, enoki mushrooms, snow peas, carrot, shallots, edamame and wafu dressing.

The salmon was cooked very well. Best part of it was the green tea vermicelli. It was different and surprisingly very tasty!

The Green Frenchy - Matcha green tea french toast, red velvet mascarpone, berries, caramelised banana, crumbled pistachio, bingsu rice cake and maple syrup.

The red velvet mascarpone was very nice and went well with the matcha flavoured bread. If you eat this without the maple syrup, its surprisingly not as sweet as you would imagine. If you've got a sweet tooth then yes! Pour that maple syrup on!

Taro Hotcakes - Pink pitaya, berries, figs, mango cubes, black sesame icecream, mint, taro marron sauce.

Probably the highlight dish for us. Taro plus black sesame is a winner! The hotcakes were served fresh and warm and it is so soft and fluffy too.

Overall we would definitely recommend this cafe to everyone. Staff were friendly and helpful which made it better.

Just in case, Social Hideout is open 7AM - 3:30PM on weekdays and 8AM - 3:30PM on weekends. Street parking is available outside the cafe.
