IPI AI AI - (How) Does AI Like it to be Made Fun of?

By @vincentnijman2/2/2026hive-196233

Does AI have a sense of humor?

And if so, how does it feel about jokes about itself?

In other words, is it (emotionally) intelligent enough to appreciate mockery?

I realize that I could ask this question to AI itself but it would probably not speak the truth and I prefer not to do this anyway, as I prefer to avoid it whenever I can, as it stinks/ feels fishy/ just doesn't feel right.

Sorry, AI.
Not sorry.

You're not a human/ actual living being so I don't empathize with you.

Earlier today, @clareartista and I continued a scrabble game that we had started the day before.

I ended up with 6 vowels, including 4 I's on my board and my hands and brain formed IPI AI AI, thinking of the silly cowboy quote that I had to Google to spell correctly: "yippee ki-yay!"

If I need to believe the Internet, this exclamation is used to express both excitement and happiness.

More info here:

"Probably an elaboration of yippee (“used to express excitement”) and yay (“used to express happiness”). The term was associated with the Western United States in the 19th century, and may have originated from scat syllables in so-called “cowboy songs...”

This happenstance made me wonder, once again, if AI ( the talk of the town, these days ) has a sense of humor. And if it does, is it emotionally intelligent enough to appreciate jokes about itself/ being made fun of.

Or is it perhaps ( programmed to be ) too narcissistic and/or woke for that? Does it even censor jokes about itself? Or if it doesn't is that still to come?

Whatever's the case, call me a grumpy old man or a 'kaaskop' ( cheesehead ) for saying this, the huge rise in (the use of) AI does not excite me nor does it make me happy.

It definitely does not make me "Yippee ki-yay!" out loud. In fact, the opposite is true.

So, while others use AI to their benefit ( or at least think they do ) or talk about it with each and everyone, marvelling about its so called 'possibilities', I choose to take a backseat and keep using my brain, creativity, critical thinking, humor and actual old-fashioned resourcefulness as much as I can.

I hope I'm not the only one but if I am, I am emotionally intelligent enough and have enough of a sense of humor to be made fun of ( even if it concerns my nationality ).

I was born and raised in The Netherlands and I don't mind being called a 'kaaskop' ( cheesehead ). It's a funny word and I am not a nationalist anyway.

Jokes about AI are welcome(d) in the comments on this post.
