Hogwarts Legacy is getting better and better, and I can confidently say this adventure is shaping up to be one of the most immersive gaming experiences I've had in a while. Hello gamers, how are you all doing? I'm back continuing my journey through Hogwarts Legacy, and things are really starting to heat up — quite literally, as you'll find out. So without further ado, let me tell you what's been going on in the wizarding world lately.

The Locket's Secret and What Fig Discovered

So, right after the whole chaos that went down during the Welcome to Hogsmeade quest — which, if you remember, involved taking down an absolutely massive armored Troll — Professor Fig reaches out and says he's discovered something new about that mysterious locket we retrieved from Gringotts. This leads straight into The Locket's Secret, one of those quests that might seem short on the surface but actually lays the groundwork for everything that's going to follow in the story. Fig reveals that the inscription around the locket contains what appears to be a map pointing directly to the Restricted Section of the Hogwarts Library, marked with Ancient Magic. Now, that's a pretty huge deal, and you can tell this mystery is going to get a lot deeper before it gets clearer. The conversation with Fig is genuinely engaging, and the sense of urgency he carries makes you feel like you're really part of something much bigger than just attending classes and learning spells. He's clearly trying to protect you while also knowing that what's ahead is going to require a lot more firepower than what we currently have.

Professor Hecat's Assignment — Earning Incendio the Hard Way

And that's exactly where things transition smoothly into Professor Hecat's Assignment — which, funny enough, was sent through Professor Fig himself as a sort of mandatory detour before we can continue unraveling the Ancient Magic mystery. Fig basically says, look, you're not ready yet, and Hecat is the one who's going to get you there. So off I go to the Defence Against the Dark Arts Classroom, which you might remember from the very beginning of the game. Professor Hecat is waiting there, cool and composed as always, and she makes it pretty clear that she's not just handing over the next spell for free. Before she teaches you Incendio — which, by the way, deals an insane amount of damage — you have to prove yourself by completing a few tasks. Specifically, she wants you to win two rounds of Crossed Wands and complete a round of spell combination practice. Straightforward on paper, but let me tell you, it gets interesting fast.

My First Crossed Wands Duel — Things Got Real

This is where Crossed Wands comes in, and honestly, this was one of the highlights of the whole session for me. Crossed Wands is basically Hogwarts' not-so-secret underground dueling club, and you find Lucan Brattleby near the Clock Tower Courtyard in the South Wing to get things going. My first duel was a real eye-opener. Up until now, most of the combat I'd experienced felt somewhat manageable, but going head-to-head against student duelists who actually know what they're doing is a completely different animal. You can't just spam basic spells and expect to come out on top. You have to be smart, time your counters with Stupefy when they launch wand attacks at you, and stay mobile at all times. The second round ups the ante even more, throwing three opponents at you at once, which means if you get caught standing still, you're going to get absolutely wrecked from multiple directions. The key I found was staying calm, not panicking and mashing buttons, and being methodical about when to attack and when to dodge. Once you find that rhythm, it feels incredibly satisfying. The reward at the end of all this? Incendio. And oh boy, is that spell worth every bit of the effort.

Hogsmeade Looks Great, but My Gold Doesn't

After all that action inside the castle, I figured it was a good time to head back to Hogsmeade. I needed to stock up on health potions because, honestly, between the boss fights, the duels, and the general chaos of exploring, my potion reserves were running dangerously low. And here's where reality hits hard, gamers — potions and items in Hogsmeade are outrageously expensive. We're talking about a gold situation that is just not looking great at this stage of the game. Everything you walk past in those shops has a price tag that makes you second-guess every purchase. Do I really need that potion right now? Can I survive a little longer without it? The economy in this game is no joke, and gold feels incredibly scarce, especially when you're trying to balance buying potions, upgrading gear, and getting new equipment. The shopkeepers in Hogsmeade are doing just fine financially — the rest of us, not so much. It really forces you to think strategically about what you spend your gold on and when, which adds an interesting layer of resource management to the whole experience that I honestly wasn't expecting this early in the game. But even with the gold situation being rough, Hogsmeade itself never gets old. Every time I go back there, I end up wandering around longer than I planned, just soaking in the atmosphere, the detail of the shops, the way the whole town feels alive. It's one of those places in a game where just existing inside it feels rewarding, even if you're basically broke.

What's Next — The Restricted Section Awaits

So where does that leave me? Equipped with Incendio, stocked up on whatever potions I could actually afford, and with a clear path leading toward the Restricted Section of the Hogwarts Library. The story is building in a way that feels genuinely exciting, and I have a feeling things are about to get significantly more intense. The mystery around the Ancient Magic and what's hidden in that library has me hooked, and between that and the layers of combat and exploration this game keeps throwing at you, I'm absolutely eager to keep pushing forward and see what this adventure has in store next. See you in the next post, gamers!
