Pre-Orders Open for Broken Sword Collection on Evercade Platform

If you are a fan of the class point and click adventure, Maniac Mansion, Secret of Monkey Island, etc then you are going to want to check this collection out. The Broken Sword Collection for the Evercade platform is a dual game cartridge. On that cartridge you will get Broken Sword 1 – The Shadow of the Templars and Broken Sword 2 – The Smoking Mirror. Pre-orders have just opened so there is time to grab this before it launches on March 10th, 2025.

Fans can expect as close to the original versions as possible with this Broken Sword Collection release. According to the press release the only major changes that were made were to adapt the input to controllers. Other than this quality-of-life update there seems to be no other changes to the games.

This is great news for purists but might be bad news for fans that have played these games to completion repeatedly. Just a slight update to the controls may not be enough to lure them in, maybe being able to play on the go if they have the handheld Evercade would help (though text may be hard to read on that screen).

Point and click games have fallen on hard times since the turn of the century. Fans just don’t seem to be supporting them as much as they did in the 80s and early to mid 90s.

For those that are not sure what a point and click game is, it is as the name implies, point and click. Point, click and your character will do something depending on the action. They might look, describe the spot you clicked, talk to a character if it is a character, interact with something there if possible, etc.

This leads to the many puzzles that you will have to complete to advance in the game. Some can be downright vile, I am thinking of you Myst here.
