Shinaara resting - Holozing FANART

2025-03-10T21:50:06

Hello! :3 ready for another week ?
today im doing a human version of Shinaara, a holozing creature :3
while i practice some line work.
here you can find the original artwork im using as inspiration.

SKETCH

i sketch some rough lines, whenever I work on the sketch, I always use geometrical figures that are NOT perfect, they have to feel at least as organic as possible...
they are my guide lines to define where it is going to be the eyes, the nose, even hair . if my sketch looks off and i dont fix it, means i will need to do double work when actually cleaning the line work.

EYES

mmm when im actually working on the lineart i like to do the eyes first, i dont think ab eyes much now, i kinda know what style i want to make every time i want to draw something, but back in the days it used to take me more time.

HAIR

then the hair, you see that little circle at the top? thats my gide line, to actually make all the hair line make sense.

CLOTHES

im not even gonna talk ab how manny references i had to look at, to make the pijama look actually decent lmao... drawing clthes i feel is at least for me, the hard part, so i make sure to look some references of fabrics and a bunch of stuff... here i was trying to make the legs had a natural pose, and had to look references for the hand, i took a few pictures of my own hands to actually find my way.

Clean LINEART

colors!

now that i look back at it i still think i sometimes put too much on my illustrations, i see the hair here, and i feel like it looks perfect... but i changed it, like at least 3 times, the colors ...

ALMOST

here i have all my base colors on, I tried to add more depth to the bed by adding wrinkles on the bed, on the pillow and shading them, using the multiply tool to make the colors darker. for the skin, I only used 3 colors, as I had practiced before, my base, my mid tone, and the shadow, using the blur tool to make the lines less strong, at the end, I felt that it looked too bright, so I put a layer on top of everything, in multiply, with a purple tone, and on top of this I made the light that sneaks through the leaves of the trees, giving the illusion that she is resting below an open roof.
