I've had a Streamdeck for a while and I love the device, but when I moved to Linux a while ago I couldn't use the native app to control it. While there are some third party open source options, they are not great. Although I did find one recently that was pretty decent called Stream Controller, I wanted to just make my own. Which is a shame because I just made a Crypto plugin for the Stream Controller software.

Data is beautiful and I like to understand things. After @splinterlands launched their SPS validators, I was curious how much of an impact this has on the chain. Every transaction on Hive is immutable, and lives forever.

Running a Hive witness is typically done on rented hardware due to the demanding space and reliability requirements. Up until now, this required storing the entire block log on disk which currently requires 507GB with an additional 100GB for artifacts and ~24GB for the state. This requires almost 650GB of very fast storage, ideally NVME. This puts it out of reach of most vendors that offer VPS and dedicated server offerings.

With InLeo's "successful" proposal for $180,000, I wanted to do some digging into what this looks like for Hive and how much of an impact it has. Considering they have another they put in for over $460,000 for 2025, it should be interesting. I noticed in their header above, they claim to have on-boarded with around 13,417 new MAU (monthly active users).
