Over the last couple of weeks, I have been in the trenches building some awesome new Wordpress and Woocommerce plugins for Hivelist and anyone else who wants to build a Wordpress based site and connect to the Hive blockchain!
A Bit of Background
When I started the Hivelist project, I knew very little actual back end code because I came from a more design based background. I got my start in the tech world working for a print company working on some major publications like Sports Illustrated, Southern Living, Outdoor Living, Maxim, Popular Mechanics, and many more.
When I started building websites, I found Wordpress and never looked back. It gave me everything I needed to build a dynamic site without knowing hardly any code. But that only got me so far when it came to Hive.
Learning PHP and JS
I have talked to several people who develop for Hive and only a couple dealt with PHP which is the base language for Wordpress. Nobody could develop the plugins I was looking for. We had a couple of payment plugins, but they were both abandoned by their devs and after Woocommerce made some major updates, they both stopped working. So I finally came to the conclusion that I could not rely on anyone and just had to get my hands dirty and learn to code.
So I have been spending the last couple of years working on learning PHP and Javascript so that I can finally build Hivelist the way I want with the Hive based features I want. And now with the help of Grok, things are finally getting starting to work properly, lol.
Rebuilding The Store From The Ground Up
Some of you that have been around Hive for a while know about Hivelist and that we have tried to build a multivendor marketplace similar to eBay and Etsy where Hive users could come and sell products and earn HBD!
Well, it became a much more difficult thing to accomplish than I thought. The existing woocommerce multivendor marketplace plugins are way too big and bulky and were confusing to users and just slowed things up. So I am scrapping all that and rebuilding the multivendor features from the ground up. And building them around your Hive account, and of course, using HBD as a payment option!
So Please Excuse The Mess
If you visit the
Hivelist Store, I may be working on some things, so please be patient and I will have it all ready soon! I am really excited about what's in store for Hivelist! With a new rush of users, it's a great time to get this awesome use case out in front of the people and let's do some business on the blockchain!
Until next time...
Be cool, be real, and always abide with you my dudes!
