Hello Hello to all Hivians, Silver Bloggers and anyone else reading this.

Last week's The Silver Bloggers Chronicles - Prompt 28 is ....

Your favourite person while growing up.

Do you have a favourite person while growing up?

Someone that would cover up for you or even spoil you with gifts and presents😁.

So as I was thinking about this, the young lady that wrote the prompt @asiaymalay knows me so well she writes this ...

So I don't want to disappoint Asia, but yes my grandma certainly did spoil me!

I purposely led with a picture of the ice cream shop down by the harbour in Pittenweem.

This is a wee fishing village in the East Neuk of Fife, although it is not really much of a fishing village. The boats are more crab and lobster fishing boats not the fishing of my youth when I would come here to see my grandmother.

image.png

This was the village she moved to from Elie where she lived with my grandfather. It was a couple of miles down the coast. When he passed away she moved to a wee bungalow in this street.

image.png

As I was at boarding school in Edinburgh and my parents lived a plane ride away I would often come here for weekends and half term breaks.

image.png

She was a Fifer and grew up in St Andrews further up the coast. So the sea is in my blood.

image.png

She would spoil me and I will not deny it. But she was also enjoyed the spoils a cute teenage boy brought!

Whenever we went out to a restaurant or to a cafe, it helped get her good service and freebies when I ordered and the waitress was a teenage girl lol!

image.png

She would even meet me in Edinburgh sometimes, she would take a train in and we would go shopping.

She had six grandchildren, three from each daughter and there was no doubt that I was her favourite.

image.png

They installed this statue a few years ago on the sea front of the village, and it reminds me of her now.

image.png

They lived in a big house in Elie, and I would sit in their front room overlooking the sea. Come storm or calm I would see the boats go past and I wonder if they all made it home.

image.png

So yes this statue reminds me of her now, and of us looking out over the sea!

Thanks @asiaymalay for a fun and thoughtful prompt that brough back some wonderful memories!
