a visit to the Zoo
Good Morning I hope all is well with you
Today I will share a few shots from a recent visit to the buttonwood Park Zoo her ein New Bedford
As far as Zoos go its a faurly small zoo, and I do wish it was a little bigger and there was more space for the animals, but having a season pass and visiting there often i have talked to a few of the staff and it came across to me that they all care very much about the welfare of the animals so that does make it better in my opionion.
Lets start with one of the otters
They are Nrth American river otters

Next up we have Emily the Elephant
a little bit about her
Emily, a remarkable 60-year-old Asian elephant, has been inspiring generations for the past 56 years at the Buttonwood Park ZOO! She weighs approximately 8,000 pounds and enjoys a daily diet consisting of around 75 pounds of hay, 10 pounds of grain, 10 pounds of produce, and 15 to 50 pounds of browse (such as maple and bamboo). Emily’s favorite treats include alfalfa cubes, dried fruit, watermelon, and sugar cane

and last up Tilly, the box turtle, is an important member of the Zoo’s Animal Ambassador Program and currently lives behind-the-scenes. You may see her out with educators for encounters, special events or school programs. The animal ambassadors at Buttonwood Park Zoo are working ambassadors of their species and of their wild counterparts. They stimulate interest and appreciation, dispel myths and fears, reconnect visitors with the natural world and stir all those they encounter to action.
