Today I've been inspired to share this post in this great community thanks to the experience I had watching the movie "Grave of the Fireflies", and I'd like to leave my opinion on this masterpiece here. First of all, I want to issue a spoiler warning in case you haven't yet enjoyed this film. Well, here we go!

Mainly because we are not talking about an animation for children; this film is an ocean of pain and sadness in its entirety, showing us from a perspective as sad as the lives of two children when the ferocity and cruelty of war manifest.

Primero quiero destacar que usar la animación como medio de expresión ha sido todo un acierto ya que este estilo de animación le ha aportado un semblante de ternura que hace aún más palpable el dolor según se desarrolla la historia. Con su historia excelentemente contada, no solo nos deja ver lo cruel que puede llegar a ser una guerra en el preciso momento donde las bombas caen del cielo, sino que lo que continúa después de esto puede ser incluso peor. También vemos a un protagonista que sin palabras toma lugar en escena y se vuelve el peor de los enemigos de nuestros protagonistas, hablo de el hambre, que juega un papel fundamental en esta triste historia, llegar a ver como estos niños van degradándose poco a poco, perdiendo incluso la razón y la conciencia a causa del hambre es un paseo tan doloroso que nos hace sentir el desespero de los protagonistas.

My opinion on "Grave of the Fireflies":
First, I want to highlight that using animation as a means of expression was a complete success, as this animation style has given the film a semblance of tenderness that makes the pain even more palpable as the story unfolds. With its excellently told story, it not only shows us how cruel a war can be at the very moment bombs fall from the sky but also how what follows afterward can be even worse. We also see a protagonist that, without words, takes center stage and becomes the worst enemy of our main characters: hunger, which plays a fundamental role in this sad story. Seeing how these children gradually deteriorate, even losing their sanity and consciousness due to hunger, is such a painful journey that it makes us feel the protagonists' desperation.
Another point I was able to understand is that in some scenes, this film can be interpreted as a shot at Japanese pride after surrendering to the United States following a prolonged war that could have been stopped earlier though this is a personal interpretation.
In short, "Grave of the Fireflies" is a film that hurts from beginning to end, with a sad and well developed story that we must be prepared to face. It is, of course, highly recommended, and I assure you that you will enjoy it, although I know it will be a film I won't be able to watch again.
