I'll take that as a good sign for a great 2026. What a week we had with back to back snowfalls, then came the rain and a serious windstorm that took out our power.

Hubby had just cleared off all the snow and another round started later in the afternoon. At least it wasn't all at once because it is hard to shovel the snow when it is too deep at his age.

This is one of the large trees that went down at the edge of the woods taking out the power line.

The wind was gusting between 45 - 60 mph. during the night and worse in the morning. Around 10:00 a.m. is when we lost power. There were so many areas that lost power throughout the surrounding counties.

I had a feeling that we wouldn't have electric until later that night so I got out some candles and a lamp so we could see.

Hubby decided to pull the generator out of the shed in case power didn't get restored. The house was already down to 65°F. and he needed to do it before it got dark outside. We can run the furnace, refrigerator and the freezers without any issue, and some lights if needed.

We chose to have dinner that night by candlelight and then it was time to start the generator. It's a good thing hubby keeps extra fuel on hand because it ran all night long. The following morning he had to go get more gas as no one had even started to clear the tree.
It was around mid-day when a crew from Florida showed up to start the repairs. It was so bad that it took them until 6:00 p.m. to bring the power back on. The following day I had to contact the internet provider to come and repair the wire to the house.

We are fortunate to have a generator compared to most of our neighbors. They all had to leave to go stay with family or friends due to the temps dropping so drastically in the houses.
That was an experience for the end of the year. Now that it's 2026, I'm looking forward to a positive, healthy, joyful, and prosperous one.
