Happy Friday everyone! I reached a milestone today when my Hive Power ticked over 50,000 as some post rewards came in.

This comes after four years on the blockchain and it is mostly earned through being active and connecting. I have bought some $Steem and $Hive, but that represents a few percent of the total. I did benefit by selling my $Steem as that platform became toxic to me after censoring my account. I am also selling my $Blurt airdrop.
This still does not make me an orca as that is based on 'vests' which are what the Hive blockchain uses internally. I need to get to 100 million, but do not have far to go.

I think we should celebrate our milestones. Increasing your HP is not just about personal wealth as it empowers you to do more good in the form of voting up good content. With more big accounts the votes and rewards get spread wider. The last thing we need is a select few getting the most rewards just because of who they know. This is part of the reason I do these #FollowFriday posts as I want good content creators to get a bigger following.
- Fellow guitarist @camuel, aka @acousticguitar, powered his way to dolphin this week.
- Communities within Hive could be key to its success, and I do not mean those that are just there for people to fish for votes. The Urban Exploration Community created by @slobberchops is a good example of this. He is working hard to bring over some of the urbex community on other platforms. @grindle is already established here, with @estonian.stalker a more recent recruit.
- @ericwilson posted about setting benefactors for your posts and prompted me to do so on this one so that those mentioned get a share of the rewards.
I did put our a call on OpenHive.chat for further suggestions on who to include, but did not get any in time this week. I would encourage people to do their own #FollowFriday posts as a way to help people connect. Hive is lacking in discovery tools and so the old manual option may have to do for now. My strategy is to make my own feed interesting for me. I may not be following some of the biggest accounts, but I can always find something to read, listen to or look at. The last thing I want is a feed that is all posts about Hive, but I do not mind a few so I can keep up with what is going on.
I will include some referral links for the Hive games I am currently enjoying:
- I expect most people know about Splinterlands. The rules are changing a bit soon to make it less lucrative for the bot accounts.
- Rising Star is all about building a career in the music industry. No musical talent is required, but it features music from our community (including me).
- Cryptobrewmaster features another of my passions, beer! Collect ingredients and brew them up to make beer to sell.
All of these games can gain you cryptocurrency and provide an alternative revenue stream in case you are not much of a blogger. I think Hive should have something for everyone.
Hive five!
