We had some good flurries about a week or so ago, stuck around for about a week and now things have dried up enough to go out into the woods to collect firewood once again. I bring my electric UTV along to get me deep into some old hunter foot trails, it was quite narrow. Had to stop many times along the way to widen out the trail to get my vehicle through. Using the sawzall works great for that kind of stuff.

It was cool seeing the moss still alive along the foot trails. Much of it is green and happy with the late afternoon sun its getting. I guess the stuff can live under the snow no problem and come back once it all thaws out.. Pretty amazing how hardy the moss is.

This stuff grows all over the place, and even on tree trunks.

I back my UTV as far as I can go, sometimes the sides getting branches rubbing against the vehicle. When it gets enough I stop and start trimming until I can progress further.

Both sides of me are just all trees, amazed the UTV made it this far into the path. Sure the sides are all scratched up, but whatever its to be expected.

Pure woodland on both sides of me. Love spending my time out in the woods, all alone.

I park the UTV and do some clearing, I will come back for those branches I cut along the road next year when they are dry. As of right now they are green and would not be the best to burn.

Deeper into the path I know there are some fallen pines, that is my goal to get to them.

Eventually I get to the fallen pines, cut them up into the UTV and return back to the main road. He sticks to the wider areas, and I take the UTV to the more narrow spots.

My foreman is up further along the logging road collecting firewood as well.

Most of what I cut and loaded will go to the barn, so it can dry for awhile.

Eventually we get a few loads moved out of the woods, and call it a day. The chainsaw broke down on us, so we would have gotten more, but its enough for now. Its not going to be too cold for another week or so.

We convoy back to the home stead and it was a good few hours in the woods. Not too cold, not too hot. Was quite nice actually. There is much more wood to cut back here, so I will return soon and get more. The timber road offers lots of downed trees to collect, as storms come through and bring down these trees. We can return once they have dried up a bit and load them into the farm vehicles and bring them back to the homestead to burn.
