You know and I've commented on here that I'm quite inactive due to work and all the wear and tear of having to bring food to the table and wear a boring uniform all day, it's a huge drain that leaves me without energy to play anything interesting from my library, today talking with a colleague has recommended me Katana Zero,
I'm not too keen on games with retro aesthetics but this one caught my attention by the description of the person who recommended it to me 'it's a massacre with a good story', peculiar the words he used so I gave it a try.
In short I'm here to give you some of my first thoughts about a game that's hard to explain.
The core of the game is simple and that is to complete missions as an assassin with a strange ability from Jojo's Za Warudo, we slow down time and that allows us to deflect bullets and anticipate enemy movements, but also Zero (protagonist) has the ability to rewind time, just in case we die at some point in the room.
There is also an interesting approach to the story, after each mission we will be directed to a couple of interactions that give a bit more context about this mysterious samurai, it's not much at the moment but it's more than many other games in this genre do.
It's thanks to the drug he takes that he has these powers and can be the perfect assassin, no matter how many times he dies we can always go back to a set point and try again with the knowledge we already gained.
It's a feature that in the game is a delight but not only do they leave it in the gameplay but they integrate it into the story, where after each job we will have an appointment with our psychiatrist to understand a little more about our past and get our daily dose of this drug that gives us the powers, as well as a new job for the night.
Each mission consists of several rooms full of enemies that we have to clean, after I got used to the controls I decided to try to run through the corridors as fast as I could eliminating all the guards, after that we will have a replay with a video tape of our massacre and we will move on to the next room.
There will be several rooms before we get to our objective, which in the last two missions is something out of the script somewhere.
In the second mission we have to talk to a secretary to let us pass without suspicion and if we choose the wrong dialogues at the end of everything she will give us away and end up dead by the cleaning team, it's a moment that made me think that this mechanic of choosing the comments we make to the npc's influences something in the game.
I had a very good first hour, playing several times the first missions because I'm curious to see each of the outcomes in the decisions we can make, I also wanted to enjoy a little more of these first levels before moving to the advanced ones.
I got a good surprise with this game, it's fun, perfect for a relaxing afternoon and also very good for when I get home from work, I'll be posting more about it in the next few days.
All yours,
