Tomorrow is February 17, 2026, a special day, as an annular solar eclipse will occur, producing a phenomenon called a ring of fire; in addition, we will be celebrating the Chinese New Year 2026, also known as the Year of the Fire Horse, so we have a unique day ahead; and what better way to celebrate these two events than with a toast, so today I'm back to participate in the #BeerSaturday week 450. This is week 450 of #BeerSaturday and I'd like to invite @marlyncabrera to write a post in any language (English would be great, or bilingual), about beer, with at least 3 images (her own).

Mañana es 17 de Febrero 2026, un día especial, ya que ocurrirá un eclipse solar anular, produciéndose un fenómeno denominado anillo de fuego; además, estaremos celebrando el Año Nuevo Chino 2026, también conocido como Año del Caballo de Fuego, así pues, que tenemos un día singular; y nada mejor para celebrar estos dos eventos, que brindar con un cerveza, así que y hoy vuelvo para participar en el #BeerSaturday de la semana 450. Esta es la semana 450 del #BeerSaturday y me gustaría invitar a @marlyncabrera a escribir un post en cualquier idioma (inglés sería genial, o bilingüe), sobre cerveza, con al menos 3 imágenes (propias).

This beer I'm sharing today is called CARDENAL, which was available in the Venezuelan market from 1960 until the mid-90s, being very popular in the 80s, although it was always a discreet, I'd even say elegant, beer. At the end of the 90s, it completely disappeared from the market as production ceased, and last year, 2025, it was relaunched by CERVECERÍA REGIONAL. And while this relaunch wasn't massive or huge, it was still significant, so let's take a look.

Esta cerveza que hoy comparto se llama CARDENAL, la cual estuvo vigente en el mercado venezolano desde 1960 hasta mediados de los 90, siendo muy popular en la década de los 80, aunque siempre fue una cerveza discreta, diría que elegante. A finales de los 90 desapareció totalmente del mercado pues dejó de producirse, y el pasado año 2025 tuvo un relanzamiento de mano de la CERVECERÍA REGIONAL. Y si bien este relanzamiento no ha sido masivo o gigante, sí ha sido importante, así que vamos a darle un vistazo.

This Munich-style beer has an alcohol content of 5%. The retail price ranges from $1.49 to $1.50, and it comes in a single 250ml can. The can itself is a simple, dark green design. It retains the Gothic lettering from its original label, which is white on a red background, a striking contrast against the green outline. A subtle gold shadow adds to its visual impact. The front of the can also features a human figure, alluding to the Middle Ages and the beer's name, raising a mug in a toast.

Esta cerveza tipo Munich, tiene un grado alcohólico de 5°. El precio de venta oscila entre 1.49 y 1.50 $, y tiene una sola presentación, que es esta lata de 250 ml. Si la detallamos, es una lata sobria, de color verde oscuro. Aún mantiene las letras góticas de su etiqueta original, las cuales son de color blanco sobre un fondo rojo, que resalta de forma muy bonita sobre el contorno verde, además de que tiene una ligera sombra dorada, para hacerla más notoria. También puede observarse en el frente, una figura humana, alusiva al Medio Evo y al nombre de la cerveza, alzando una jarra para brindar.

The can displays product information, such as the registration number, the manufacturer, and the ingredients: water, malted barley, cereals, and hops. It also indicates the manufacturing location, which can be one of two places in my country: Maracaibo or Cagua (where Cervecera Regional has two breweries). Like all alcoholic beverages, it includes a warning about excessive consumption and a message promoting environmental conservation: “TAKE CARE OF THE ENVIRONMENT,” accompanied by a recycling icon.

La lata muestra la información relativa al producto, como es el número de registro, quién la elabora, los ingredientes: Agua, cebada malteada, cereales y lúpulo. También señala el sitio de fabricación, que puede ser en dos lugares de mi país: Maracaibo o Cagua (en donde están las dos plantas de Cervecera Regional). Como todos los licores trae una advertencia acerca de su consumo excesivo, y también inserta un mensaje en pro de la conservación del medio ambiente: “CUIDA DEL MEDIO AMBIENTE”, acompañado de un icono de recilaje.

The can also includes printed storage and consumption recommendations, as well as the expiration date.

La lata también trae impresas las recomendaciones de almacenamiento y consumo, así como la fecha de caducidad de la misma.

When I opened the can, I was surprised by the pleasant aroma of this CARDENAL beer; it was a mild but very nice smell. I was surprised that it foamed a lot, even though I tried to be careful when pouring it; the foam eventually subsided. The color is somewhat pale, but very pretty.

Cuando abrí la lata, me sorprendió el grato aroma de esta cerveza CARDENAL, fue un olor suave pero muy agradable. Me sorprendió que hizo mucha espuma, aún cuando traté de ser cuidadosa al servirla, luego la espuma fue bajando. El color es algo pálido, pero muy bonito.

As for the flavor, I really enjoyed it, and while I don't recall exactly what it tasted like decades ago, what I experienced this time was very pleasant, even though it's a light beer with a mild flavor. So I think it will be a staple at future celebrations and toasts.

En cuanto a su sabor me agradó mucho, y si bien en mi memoria gustativa no tengo recuerdo del sabor que ésta tenía décadas atrás, lo que percibí en esta ocasión me gustó mucho, aún cuando es una cerveza clara y de sabor suave. Así que creo que estará presente en otras oportunidades y brindis.
