In a very distant town called Alborozo, Andrés Felipe lived. He was children who never tire of asking questions, always with eyes full of curiosity and desire to discover.
One day, while playing, imagining that he was a great explorer, he began to dig near a huge tree. Suddenly, his shovel hit something hard. With his heart beating with excitement, he pushed aside the earth and discovered an old buried chest. What secrets would he keep inside? With effort, he opened it, but instead of gold coins, inside was a book with an inscription on the cover: "The Treasure in my Heart."
Intrigued, Andrés Felipe ran to his grandfather Teodoro's house, and showed him his find.
"Grandfather, grandfather! I found a chest and inside was this book, but it doesn't have maps or coins. Why is it called a treasure? -Asked.
Grandfather smiled, ruffled his hair, and said:
-This book is a treasure. It talks about the emotions that God placed in our hearts as tools to understand what we feel and act in the best way, if we manage them wisely. I'll read it to you, pay attention.
Then he opened the book, flipped through a few pages, and said: "Here are some characters that we must take into account in our day to day," said Grandfather Theodore. Tell me if you know them and how you get along with them," and he began to read some passages to her.
Joy – We must always be joyful, pray without ceasing, and give thanks in every situation. Joy is a gift from God, and we can share it with others with kind words and kind actions. Andrés recalled how happy he felt when he helped his mother clear the table or when he played with his friends. "I like to feel Joy, grandfather!" He said with a big smile.
Tristan (The Sadness) "But there are also times when we are sad," continued the grandfather. Jesus himself wept when his friend Lazarus died. It's not wrong to be sad, but we can talk to God in prayer and trust Him to comfort us. Andrés thought about the time his best friend moved away and felt a lump in his throat. -So is it okay to feel Tristan and cry when we are sad? -Asked. "Yes, little boy, but we can also remember that God loves us and will always comfort us," replied Grandfather.
Iraida (The Wrath) – He who is slow to anger has great prudence. When Iraida visits us, we can take a deep breath and ask God to help us speak with love instead of screaming. Andrés remembered the time his younger brother broke his favorite toy and how he had wanted to yell at him. "Maybe the next time Iraida comes, she will be able to take a deep breath and speak calmly," he said thoughtfully.
Fear (Fear) – When you feel fear, put your trust in God. He is always with us and takes care of us. The boy thought about how, sometimes, he was afraid of the dark. "Grandpa, I'm going to pray when Fear comes to visit me," he said decisively.
The grandfather closed the book and looked at Andrés Felipe tenderly. -This is the true treasure, my dear little one, If you treasure these teachings in your heart, you will always find God's guidance to understand and manage your emotions, instead of being carried away by them impulsively and acting incorrectly.
From that day on, Andrés Felipe shared what he had learned with all his friends, and little by little, the town of Alborozo became a place where children grew up learning to manage their emotions with love and faith.
