Weekend Iftar with family

Yesterday, it was the first Sunday we were all at home in this Ramadan. Unfortunately, my Father was not well. He is the one who do all shopping for the Iftar and buy grocery and also share and criticize the government for all the high prices but we don’t bother or listen to him very carefully. Instead we used to say this is happening all over the world and we are not alone in it. This is nothing new and we should get used to it.
Weekend
Due to Father’s illness, now it was me who is going to go to the market for the essentials and Iftar items. We need to give some rest to my Father. I made my mind for the market, went there and started bargaining straight away because nothing looks reasonable to me. Prices were really high, specially the fruits and they were not even listening to me for the lower price.

In Pakistan, fruit prices always gets higher in this holy month of Ramadan. This is normal but this time, it was too much. I forgot to take my cell phone with me and didn’t took the pictures, missed it or else I would be able to show the market where shopkeepers were not looking friendly lol.

I kept walking and finally got someone with lower rates for the vegetables. Immediately bought some without any second thought, it was not less though but better rates than others. Then, I bought some fruits i.e. Watermelon and melons as I got tired and no one was going to reduce the price. I had some wraps for Samosa and vegetable rolls too, that was reasonable.

Weekend market experience was horrible. However, things got changed when I saw the ladies preparing Iftar for the family. It was the mood changer. They really work hard no doubt, I cannot do the same while fasting hehehe. However, I was there with them for some help but no one too my help as they don’t want things to get messed up.

Cabbage, carrots and capsicum were cut and mixed to make vegetable rolls. Its an art wow putting those vegetables in the wrap, it was looking great. Then gram flour was mixed to make different kinds of Pakodas. We can’t have Iftar without Pakodas, it is the main item of Iftar.

I really like Egg pakodas and these were made specially for me. Plates were all set and we had a wonderful Iftar together on this weekend. This was special because my bro will be going out of city in couple of days and we won’t be having the same fun together in this Ramadan. We enjoyed the food and had too many gossips at the dining table, it was a memorable one. Cheers!!!
