It's a pleasure to greet you, friends of the Vibes community! We are already in week 33 of this phenomenal Hive web3 music showcase, and I’m more than ready to share my presentation. This week we have a special theme, it's about sharing songs in a second language, in my case I'm going to present you a piece in Serbian, which is not exactly a second language for me, but rather a Slavic language from Eastern Europe that I find very interesting.
Since I was a child I have had an inclination for languages, since their knowledge allows me to better understand the cultures and historical contexts of the several countries of the world, and that is how I have been willing to learn English, Portuguese, Italian and French, which I master at different levels and I intend to continue improving in them. The idea of bringing a song in a language of a linguistic family so different from those already mentioned comes from my interest in delving into other latitudes, in this case the Slavic languages. I remember years ago I watched the Eurovision Song Contest and I saw that the winning song of that edition was really beautiful and I wanted to know what it was about. That's when I did some research and I could notice that Serbian was a very beautiful language of the South Slavic group. I also saw that my favorite tennis player Novak Djokovic was supporting the winning singer and that piqued my interest even more.
The song I bring you today is a ballad titled Молитва (Molitva), which in English means “Prayer” by Serbian singer Marija Šerifović as part of her album Molitva - The Best Of, and which as I already mentioned was the winning song of the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 and had a re-release in 2020 with a video in the context of the pandemic. The song talks about how when we are not close to the loved one, we feel ourselves fade and decay, and that the only expression and prayer that comes genuinely from the soul is to repeat the name of that person as one who keeps his memory alive in the heart. ¡Un placer saludarles, amigos de la comunidad de Vibes! Ya nos encontramos en la semana 33 de esta fenomenal vitrina musical de la web3 de Hive, y yo estoy más que lista para compartir mi presentación. Esta semana tenemos una temática especial, se trata de compartir canciones en un segundo idioma, en mi caso voy a presentarles una pieza en Serbio, que no es exactamente una segunda lengua para mí, sino más bien un idioma eslavo del este de Europa que me parece muy interesante.
Desde pequeña he tenida inclinación por los idiomas, ya que su conocimiento me permite entender mejor las culturas y contextos históricos de los diversos países del mundo, y es así como me he dispuesto a prender Inglés, Portugués, Italiano y Frances, los cuales domino en diferentes niveles y pretendo continuar mejorando en ellos. La idea de traer una canción en una lengua de una familia lingüística tan distinta a las ya mencionadas viene de mi interés por adentrare en otras latitudes, en este caso las lenguas eslavas. Y es que recuerdo hace años vi el Festival de la Canción Eurovisión y noté que la canción ganadora de esa edición era realmente hermosa y quería saber de qué se trataba. Ahí fue cuando investigué un poco y pude notar que el Serbio era un idioma muy hermoso del grupo eslavo meridional. Además, vi que mi jugador de tenis favorito Novak Djokovic estaba apoyando a la cantante ganadora y eso despertó aún más mi interés.
La canción que les traigo hoy es una balada titulada Молитва (Molitva), que en español significa “Oración” de la cantante serbia Marija Šerifović como parte de su álbum Molitva - The Best Of, y que como ya mencioné fue la canción ganadora del Festival Eurovisión del año 2007 y que tuvo un relanzamiento en el año 2020 con un video en el contexto de la pandemia. La canción habla de que cuando no estamos cerca de la persona amada nos sentimos desvanecer y decaer, y que la única expresión y oración que sale genuinamente del alma es repetir el nombre de esa persona como quien mantiene su recuerdo vivo en el corazón. Espero que les guste mi versión acústica, acompañada de guitarra y shaker.
