Dark, cold and snowing what else can you ask for? Well this was so awesome!
Starting the day on 06:15 , quick breakfast and a coffee before hitting the road!
Within minutes I knew this run would be epic, the views were incredible! My only concern was one of my right hamstrings - that had been making itself present for the last 1,5 week. My plan therefore was to maintain a slow & steady pace and stay in the area near my house, so that if the hamstring would had gotten worse I could just dail back and return home. Luckily everything went well!

I aimed for lots of unpaved roads today, because there, with snow, the underground becomes less slippery compared to road work and it is soo much more beautiful. Today my trail shoes were a real must have, as the extra grip was very welcome!

I did get some strange looks from the few other people I came across as they were entirely packed with warm winter clothes while I was having fun in running shorts!

While it may sound counterintuitive but not dressing too warm provides some benefits as long as you do stay moving, it worked fine except for when I got in a 20 min hail storm - few minutes later I was getting warmed up again! Having a running cap prevents rain / snow / hail from getting into your eyes, eliminating almost all the discomfort of whatever they trow at you!
In order to keep myself warm - especially because I was not that heavily clothed- I used my marathon nutrition strategy - as I was running way slower compared to a race I would have more carbs ready to keep me warm, a isotonic energy gel every 20 min worked like a charm today!

Happy running!
