30 days to go! NN Marathon Rotterdam 2025

Hi all,
Welcome back to my running blog!
With 30 days left to the Rotterdam Marathon and 9 days of peak days before taper weeks start I feel I can honestly say I am confident on my training sofar.
Last week I did 77 km, this week I planned to do 80 km. With 2 days left I already completed 56 km. Meaning I can replace my sunday long run with an easier run and still make my weekly target. Or I might just beat the target and add a few extra kilometers.. not sure yet, but great to have some options and let your body determine.
My run today was a recovery run / low zone 2 run. I ignored the pace but focussed on keeping my heartbeat reasonably low (which for me means < 140 bpm = recovery | < 150 bpm is zone 2). When starting today’s run I still didn’t determine what my distance would be - I started my 8km route but decided to go a little further, while it was tempting to target a longer > 20 km distance I decided not to as my training sofar should be enough already - doing too much more only adds to the chances of injury. Therefore a fun 12 km recovery run today.
The run felt good, did had about 5 minutes on oneven ground where my right knee played up a little bit, when we got to even ground it was fine again. Nothing serious, but just like the groin issue something to be aware off and another indication that after Rotterdam my body deserves some real recovery period :)
The area that I went through is very beautiful especially in this time of the year, most people in Rotterdam just know the city, Kralingse Plas and that’s it - but also in a reasonable big city area there are plenty of beautiful hidden gems like this place!
Happy running-
