Buenas esperanzas, gente. Hace poco tuve la oportunidad de visitar la Universidad Experimental de las Artes de Venezuela, específicamente su sede en Caracas. Estuve allí por una muestra de performances que se realizarían en el marco de los montajes del final de semestre que realizan los estudiantes. Particularmente pude ver tres, y les quiero contar un poco sobre ellos.
El primero del cual quiero hablarles es un dueto. En especial me llamó atención lo acrobático y el color azul de sus vestimentas, así como también su construcción estructural. Verlos me hizo preguntarme: ¿Cómo se construyen este tipo de piezas? Desde hace tiempo este tema es de mi interés, y más cuando veo a ejecutantes tan desarrollados como estepar de bailarines de los que les hablo.
La siguiente pieza también fue un dueto, y me pareció genial. El par de chicas que participaban en la muestra tenían una química que se dejaba sentir de manera sutil. El hecho de que trabajaran constantemente con un elemento que las mantuviera unidas, en este caso un cinta blanca, me pareció simplemente atrapante. Trabajar con este tipo de elementos me parece un trabajo técnico exigente, no solo porque en sí es un técnica que veo compleja, sino porque además componer coreográficamente con ello es siempre un desafío.
La última pieza fue un solo: una bailarina de flores y verdes. Particularmente de ella destaco su espacio sobre el giro, tiene una habilidad interesante a la hora de cambiar el ángulo de su cuerpo que le da figuras ricas en expresión cunado son combinadas con la fluidez suave y ligera que tienen las plantas.
Estas fueron las tres piezas que pude observar, habían más pero tuve que retirarme. Adicionalmente también observé un poco el final de uno de los montajes. Este tenía un temática tradicional venezolana vinculada a los diablos danzantes de Yare. Por ahora eso es lo que tengo para contar, más delante les seguiré contando mi experiencia como espectador en el mundo de la danza.

Good hopes, people. I recently had the opportunity to visit the Universidad Experimental de las Artes de Venezuela, specifically its headquarters in Caracas. I was there for an exhibition of performances that were to be held as part of the end-of-semester assemblies that the students put on. I was able to see three in particular, and I want to tell you a little about them.
The first one I want to tell you about is a duet. I was particularly struck by the acrobatic and blue color of their costumes, as well as their structural construction. Seeing them made me wonder: How do you build this kind of pieces? I have been interested in this subject for a long time, and even more so when I see performers as developed as this pair of dancers I am talking about.
The next piece was also a duet, and I thought it was great. The pair of girls in the show had a chemistry that was subtly palpable. The fact that they were constantly working with an element that kept them together, in this case a white ribbon, I found it simply enthralling. Working with this kind of elements seems to me a demanding technical work, not only because it is a technique that I see as complex, but also because composing choreographically with it is always a challenge.
The last piece was a solo: a dancer of flowers and greens. She has an interesting ability to change the angle of her body that gives her figures rich in expression when combined with the soft and light fluidity of the plants.
These were the three pieces I was able to observe, there were more but I had to leave. In addition, I also observed a bit of the end of one of the assemblages. This one had a traditional Venezuelan theme linked to the dancing devils of Yare. For now that's all I have to tell you, later I will continue to tell you about my experience as a spectator in the world of dance.
