Your photo must be related to music. Not necessarily only with DJing. It doesn't matter whether you take a photo with/of a musical instrument, a concert, a light show or a sheet of music paper. The important thing is the connection to music.

The Global DJ Census is compiled annually by the world's largest DJ school, Digital DJ Tips, in cooperation with numerous partners in the DJ industry. (It is only available in English - but easy to understand. If necessary, Google Lens can help). Participation in the survey is open to the 40,000 students of Digital DJ Tips' DJ school, 150,000 DJs on their email list, and the 2,500,000 people Digital DJ Tips reaches through their social networks. The survey period was from December 2024 to January 2025. In the end, “only” 14,000 DJs worldwide took part - but this also yields clear and interesting statements and trends. As far as I know, this census was conducted in 2014 - and with a bit of clicking, you can also organize the previous years if you want to compare developments.

In the summary overview, there are DJs in their bedrooms, working DJs and artistic DJs. Working DJs in particular could be subdivided again. We'll go into this in a moment.Each “class” of DJ has its own requirements - or not. I want to shed some light on these. This distinction has helped me a lot, as it makes it easier to plan your own career, as you can focus more clearly on what you really need - or don't need. Some areas can also overlap in certain aspects, as I will show you further down in the article.
