The Michelena Park is a space with a lot of vegetation, in it live different species of birds, squirrels and some reptiles like iguanas. It is located in the city of Maracay. I often go there to walk and exercise and sometimes I take my dog Isis to run. She has a lot of fun chasing anything that moves from lizards, insects, squirrels and birds.
These pictures I am showing you were taken during the rainy season. That morning all the vegetation was wet because it had rained during the night.
I was photographing plants with small, almost tiny flowers and I found this little fungus in the grass. Looking through Google lens it could be of the genus Panaeolus where there are several species. It has the shape of a little hat and its stem is light brown. It was growing on the ground among the grass vegetation.
In those months I also observed a fungus on the trunk of a dry tree. I was very struck by its creamy white color and texture that seemed very soft and especially the reddish brown color that was observed in the lower part of the body of the fungus.
In these photographs you can see how this substance spreads over the surface of the trunk where the fungus is attached. Looking for the possible genus, I found according to the photographs that it is of the genus Ganoderma. Possibly the species Ganoderma resinaceum which inhabits the trunks and are wood decomposers. They are considered parasites of trees on which they feed.
The reddish brown color is due to the phenolic substances it produces.
I have been in the park during these months of drought and I have not seen these fungi. Possibly for the next rainy season they will reproduce again.
