Today I had the chance to photograph an open boxing training session held by one of Lithuania’s best-known boxers, Eimantas Stanionis, at the Lithuanian Sports University’s boxing gym. The event was dedicated to the actors of the National Kaunas Drama Theatre, as they prepare for a new season that demands not only emotional but also physical strength.

I had some leftover cooked lentils sitting in my fridge and didn’t want to let them go to waste. Usually, I’d make a comforting lentil stew or soup, but this time, I felt like trying something different. I decided to turn those lentils into tasty little patties, and it worked out so well! These patties are super flavorful, and while they might not look fancy, they’re a great way to enjoy lentils in a fun new way.

Recently, we had an assignment at photography school that pushed me into an entirely new realm: film photography. I have to admit, I wasn’t exactly thrilled when I heard about it. It wasn’t fully my own choice—more of a mandatory exploration. I think film photography is one of those things that becomes fascinating once you’ve already delved deep into digital photography. When you’ve played around, experimented, and expressed your creative vision digitally, then you might crave a new challenge—something to push your boundaries further and test your limits. That’s when film photography can become truly exciting: you’re forced to slow down, to be more intentional, to embrace the unexpected.

Last weekend, Kaunas celebrated its 617th birthday, filling the streets with life, light, music, and a deep sense of community. I recently started my internship as a photographer at a local news portal, and I had the opportunity to photograph this three-day celebration from behind the scenes — and right in the middle of the action.

Kaunas, located right in the heart of Lithuania, is the country’s second-largest city, home to around 300,000 people. I grew up just outside the city, in the countryside, but Kaunas has always been a big part of my life. I studied here, spent time with friends, walked these streets countless times — and now, I’m capturing its stories through my camera.
