It was a junior African Harrier Hawk (Polyboroidus typus) and he knew that I was watching him, but he decided to ignore me. Mrs. Google will show you all about these hawks in Wikipedia HEREI don’t know about you, but I find the junior better looking than the adult, as the youngster has lovely colors. The adult is grey with a small head and a yellow face. This guy will eventually also lose his colors and turn grey, but this will still take some time. They are large birds, and I have posted them in flight a few times before. It seems like this one will claim this territory, and I look forward to see much more of him. I also hope to catch the crows harassing the hawk, as they also breed in this area near the river, and they wouldn’t want the hawk grabbing their babies. If the hawk stays, we will have to notify the neighbors to keep their small dogs inside.

…even though I am one of those that don’t believe in luck. If you think that this is nice, then have a look at the second picture. As usual I stepped out of the house early this morning to have a look at the day and the weather, and the first thing was that the moon greeted me. I heard the loud calls of some hadeda ibis birds approaching and the thought deigned upon me that maybe they would fly across the face of the moon. But no, as you saw, they crossed over just below the moon. There is such a thing that is called perseverance, and I have much of it, so I kept my eye on the moon. Then I heard the sound of an approaching plane, and as it came over, I lined it up. Bang! You can see the result below.

...and they were Painted Ladies (Vanessa cardui). They were all small, fluttering around on a big bush with yellow flowers, that looks like some kind of daisy flowers.I suppose recently born, and I have never seen so many painted ladies together. Another thing that I didn't know was that painted lady butterflies are migratory. Apparently, they migrate all over the continent and have a look at this below.

...but rather an unexpected occurrence that might be dangerous. The original thought was to do a sunset post, but something else appeared in the sky.A small black dot appeared, and I knew somehow that it was not a bird as it flew about too erratically. Almost like being steered by a human hand. Without giving too much away, before you see the photos, I can tell you that I saw a sight that was very unnerving. We have many planes that land here, both local and international, and the airways are protected by law. No go zones for anything other than planes. Fortunately, I have a keen eye and can at most times see things that others battle to see. So now in this post, I will show you what it was that I saw. Come and look.

Just a quick Friday experience to show you in here. What I mean is that he only had one leg.It is a locust and reckoned as a pest by farmers, as swarms of them can make a land with crops disappear in a few hours. The swarms number thousands, and when they fly over roads, they present a real danger to motorists. A dense swarm, that is a big cloud size, simply descends upon the lands and they attack the crops right down to stub size.
