I heard the familiar song and looked out the window to the water bottle. So glad to see that the little guy popped in for a drink.It is a Southern Double-collared Sunbird (Cinnyris Chalybeus), and he didn't only come in for a drink, as he also took a quick wash in the heat. Yeah, we are having some very hot days recently, and sadly no rain, as we are in a winter rainfall area. The blazing sun affects mankind and also wildlife, but I think that the birds handle the heat better than we can. This little bird will demonstrate in here how he handles the heat.

This is the second part of the sunset post that I did 2 days ago.I told you that it would be different, so come and enjoy the views.In the previous post I focused mostly on landscape views of the sunset, and in this post now I concentrated more directly on the sun. Ever so slowly the sky started to turn into a dramatic red color and a strong wind was also moving the darker clouds along at a strong lick. Thankfully, we had a grandstand view next to a road that ran over the top of a hill, and so there were no obstacles in the way, as one could see the ocean on the horizon. An ideal spot to take sunset photos.

Occasionally we get some centipedes indoors, but a closer look told me that this one had no legs. And so, it was a snake. Not any snake, mind you, as you will believe that this snake is an adult.

...and the stormy summer clouds provided a perfect backdrop. I only took 16 shots of the sunset and decided to split it into two separate posts, as the second post of the sunset will be totally different.In order to understand the second post, one would have to have seen this one, as the two posts are intrinsically linked. One can only just stare at the beautiful wonderworks in the sky, and a cool breeze was so welcome after a very hot day. We have some very topsy-turvy weather here. One day cool, and the very next day in the high 30Cs. Recently, there were some severe floods in the KZN province that claimed some lives and destroyed many homes. We also see similar weather all over the world, and its really a madhouse lately. But I digress. Come and watch the sunset.

To sit and listen to the quiet near water is totally relaxing. This little damselfly was on a boat to nowhere, but I liked the reflection.Our summer season is gradually drawing to a close, and the fall colors will make their way onto the stage. Some of the trees are already starting to show their yellowing leaves, and now that the grape harvesting period has closed, the grapevines will also lose all of their leaves to prepare for winter. There are many changes between the seasons and differences of colors, but water stays the same throughout all seasons.

...as in birds at a dam, and some other views. Since the severe wildfires at our nature reserve, we have only visited afterwards a few times in the past, and so we decided to go and have another look now. Sadly, we found no sign of the protea bushes and I suppose it will take another few years for them to grow again. We did see that a lot of work has been done there, that I will show you in another post, but now I only want to show you what I have in here. Let's have a look.
