Hello everyone and welcome to my blog :-)The visit to the Santo Inácio Zoo, in Vila Nova de Gaia, was an unforgettable experience. From the moment you enter, the atmosphere conveys a sense of tranquility, contrasting with the wildlife that unfolds around us. This zoo, founded in 1997, has the mission of providing a space for education and conservation of fauna and flora, and is one of the most sought-after destinations for families in the Porto region. The zoo is organized in such a way as to allow visitors to feel integrated into the animals' lives, with, for example, the safari area, where the animals live in large natural spaces, recreating their habitat as faithfully as possible.

During our visit to Parque do Mezio, my family and I were lucky enough to explore not only the natural beauty of the place, but also to take a trip back in time, thanks to the museum located in the park. After spending some time in the gardens and near the lake, we decided to explore the building that housed this space dedicated to the history of local agriculture. The sky was still full of clouds, but it didn't rain, which allowed us to enjoy every moment of the visit calmly and with curiosity.

The city woke up peacefully, with the gentle breeze bringing the freshness of the river waters and the smell of the earth. It was the perfect setting for a trip that promised to be full of discoveries and beautiful landscapes. The objective was clear: to find the almond trees in bloom, one of the landmarks of spring in the Douro, and to walk through the streets and riverbanks of the city.

Located in the heart of the Peneda-Gerês Natural Park, Porta do Mezio is one of the five access gates to this vast and wonderful natural space. This gate, located in the parish of Mezio (Arcos de Valdevez), offers a spectacular entrance for those wishing to explore the beauty of the mountains. We have already had the opportunity to visit three other gates in the park, and now we only have two left to complete our adventure through all the access points.
