Hello, everyone.

Welcome to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learner's featured post. So many people are on social media without knowing the opportunities that come with being on social media. Gone are the days when we only rushed to create a social media account because of the entertainment and because we wanted to chat with friends or know how they were faring.
Many people have had life-changing opportunities, and it is all thanks to social media. There are a lot of advantages that come with being on social media, but you just have to know how to milk them in your favor. Social media is now like a bridge; it has connected the whole world together.
In those days you had to travel and be present in a country or continent before you could have a friend from there, but social media has made it possible to make friends from different countries and different continents without even stepping foot in these countries or continents; all you have to do is get acquainted online from the comfort of your room. The opportunities on social media are too numerous to mention. It is a space for people to have fun, share their opinions on matters, and publicly educate others on things they know and feel others should know about too.
A lot of people join social media every day, and the population on social media grows with each passing day. There are even people with multiple accounts on social media, which is to show you how much it has eaten deep into the society, and people don't want to miss a thing. Now politicians have seen how much influence they can have if they have the support of people online; they have weaved politics into social media. The days where campaigns had to be offline are no more, as they now mostly do it online.
Every area of our lives as humans is already integrated into social media, and what makes one think politics would be left out? Politicians have come to realize that they have greater outreach through social media than even offline; they can reach a lot more people using their online campaigns than they would when they travel from one state or place to another to campaign, and for this reason, many politicians spend more to ensure their presence is felt and noticed online than offline.
The part social media plays in my country's politics.
Social media plays major roles in my country's politics, and it serves both the politicians and the voters (the people). The politicians use it for campaigns and awareness, while the voters (the people) use it as a means to speak out and call out those they voted for that have failed to fulfill promises since we cannot do so in this country and be safe, so we use social media as our voice. Our leaders have succeeded in silencing us, and the only way our voice can be heard is by using social media, and they have tried to silence us there too, but we manage to still use it to say what we cannot say in the open.
Has social media had any good effects?
Yes, it has. Social media has been used to call out the government, and they responded, though it took a lot of people to come together and do it. Also, for the politicians, they were able to pull up numbers because of the number of supporters from online.
