Don't judge people by their looks or appearances.

Hello, everyone.

Welcome to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learners' featured post. On so many occasions, I have judged people by how they look and I have been judged by my looks as well. Sometimes we are right when we judge people by their looks without waiting to get to know them better, and sometimes we are wrong as the person is completely the opposite of what we judged them to be.
I have dark lips, and this has landed me in so much trouble. Women in my departmental office ask me the same question every day, and now I even feel scared to go to the departmental office. They always say my lips are too dark to be natural; I have tried convincing them otherwise, but the moment they set their eyes on me, it's still the same topic.
Every human being on the surface of the earth is guilty of judging people by their looks. This is why my mom always reminds us that the appearance of a man is what gives him a seat. We have all been judged by our looks.
   One Time I Judged Wrongly
I have judged wrongly on several occasions, but this one I still remember like it happened yesterday. When I first gained admission, I was allocated to a hostel room; we stay four per room. On reaching the room allocated to me, I met a guy looking very scary with beards covering his face; as a new student, I got scared, and the whole situation got worse when he introduced himself to me as my roommate 😂.
I said to myself that this guy must be a cultist. I was just asking myself questions like, "What if this guy steals my phone at night while I am sleeping?" and "What if he bullies me in this room?" The guy was big and mature for real.
We stayed together for about one year and six months, and that's when I realized I had judged him wrongly; Albert turned out to be the best roommate in the hostel. He was older and bigger but still lowered himself, and we joked around like we were age mates.
One time I judged by looks, and I was right.
After the holidays, it was time to go back to school, so I left home for the park as early as possible, purchased my tickets, and sat down while I waited for other passengers. The driver of the bus stepped in and tried to start the bus, but the bus took time to respond.
This vehicle is faulty. I said to myself, but the driver did not want to admit it as it was his turn; he did not want to forfeit his turn for another while he got his vehicle fit. His plan was to take us to Umuahia, and when he arrives at Umuahia, he will get it fixed there. He had this plan at the expense of passengers.
At around 9 a.m., the bus was filled and we were en route; about 45 minutes into the journey, the car just went off on the express. He managed to leave the road, and that's how we were stranded on the road, and fixing the vehicle became mandatory.
   Lessons Learnt.
From this, there are so many lessons learned:
  • Don't judge people by their looks; instead, get to know them before judging.
  • Speaking up at the right time—if I had said something when I realized the vehicle was faulty, then it would have saved a lot of stress.
Thank for reading my post.
