It was another fairly busy weekend, like most weekends lately. My eldest had his wrapup party for his hockey on Saturday, and all the parents, coaches, and families had a great time. Kids got to run wild in a gym, and the parents got to chat and drink some beers, which was a pretty great end to the season.
When we left the wrapup party it was about 4pm and apparently in the four hours we'd been having fun, Saskatchewan weather decided to have its own fun, and dump a good 8 inches of fresh hell on us. I mean, nice floofy powdery snow.
We passed four vehicles in the ditch on the way home, and a few times almost ended up there ourselves... It was supposed to be a fifteen minute drive and it took us double that at least to get home, but we did arrive safe and sound.
Today I finally managed to get to Canadian Tire and buy a bunch of random shit we needed for around the house - some lights burnt out in the last month and of course the old owners had decided that every room needs a different fixture style with unique fucking bulbs so nothing is easy to find and keep stocked (which I'm finding out as we go. Apparently "see how many types of light bulbs are necessary" is going on my checklist if we ever house hunt again lol).
With that done though I did manage to get half of the burnt out bulbs replaced. One is of a type that they don't make anymore so it's 80 bucks to get a pair and, man, for that much I'd rather replace the damn fixture and get something that isn't discontinued.
But overall it was a pretty productive day. Got a bunch of groceries as well, and then finally set up the shelf I got for Christmas to house my ttrpg stuff!
I didn't get it fully loaded up but this is most of my books at least. The old shelf was a pile of ancient text books and random crap I didn't need in my office:
So it's a pretty great upgrade I think! I'm looking forward to having all my tabletop gaming stuff in one place in my office finally.
I've been meaning to get back to recording tabletop RPGs but my desk has been non functional baaaaasically since I set it up, so I've got lights and my mic and everything ready and waiting but haven't done anything with it at all. This should make a big dent in the mess and clutter, so as we get into spring and summer fully I hope to be able to devote more time to that side of things. I don't plan to be a big YouTube star or anything, I just want to have some place to show off and talk about games that I don't think get enough attention.

I need to file and purge the loose papers but then I'm back to a working space and that's fantastic. I think I can put a lot of my binders and notebooks on here too, and even with that addition I'll still have plenty of room for the rest of the Kickstarters yet to fulfill to arrive and have a home. Draw Steel, Cairn 2e, and the rest of The Magnus Archives should all be arriving I've the course of the summer and fall, so there's definitely more to add and I'm glad I've saved some room for that growth.
Anyhow, it's been a productive day and I just wanted to mostly show off my shelf so... That's all from me folks!
