Now that the traditional social media groups are putting more and more ads into our lives, including non-skippable ones in our Instagram feeds, what are the various Web3.0 projects doing to make themselves grow and highlight being the alternative.

For a long time now I have been hoping that a project would come out of the blockchain that would provide the freedom that Web1.0 provided by just posting things on the internet, but with a way to make it not cost anything.

However, nothing like this has happened. In fact, the barriers of getting started with web 3.0 haven't really gotten easier.

I remember about 15y ago I could just put my GoogleAds id into my profile at digitalpoint forums * and based on how active I was the AdSense would be shown with my id. I got paid more by being active there than I do here, and the money went directly into my bank account without any convoluted off-ramp.

Anyway, I will stick around posting for another spurt here, and check back every few months to see if anything has changed. There are a few OG Hivers that I follow that are still active but not enough for me to make it a daily place to visit for longer periods.

  • Speaking of DigitalPoint Forums, I really miss BBCode. It would be amazing if #Peakd automatically parsed it to HTML like they do with Markdown.
