It’s important to remember that no matter which camera you’ve chosen to accompany you on any given day - use it! The following set of photos were taken on an iPhone or Ricoh GR3X. Two very different cameras but both compact and feature no interchangeable lenses, apart from the iPhone I guess but you don’t physically need to ruffle around in a backpack and manually swap them around. So you can react quickly to opportunities as they present themselves.

We visited Winchester on Saturday to have a walk around and buy a gift for a colleague. I never turn down a visit to my old town, my birthplace and we found what we were looking for. We managed to squeeze it all into about 45 minutes because we didn’t have a huge amount of time.

I might go there for a “derive” in the Spring months with one of the cameras to see how many photos I can take given a few more hours. If anyone fancies joining me for that, let me know, as I’ve been itching to set up a photowalk.

Today, as I write this post, we drove down to Aldermaston Wharf which is quite close to where we live and is on the fantastic Kennet and Avon, which I’ve already written about in this Substack and done a little filming along. There is a place along the way there called ABC Boat Hire, they have a number of boats for sale too, ripe for photography today, despite the light being very reluctant to show itself, so had to make do with what we had. Still the colours look pretty punchy even on a dull day.

I must also give a hearty mention to the people who run the tea rooms and small museum there, please do check them out.

Tell you what here is a What 3 Words thingy for them - ///thing.diets.pleasing
