Celebrating The Season With The Ones We Love

For it is in the company of loved ones that life truly begins.- Gabriel García Márquez

Hello guys, Merry merry Christmas to you and your family! I hope you’re having a good day and also enjoying your holidays. As we find ourselves in the festive season once again, everything feels different. People are more relaxed, having fun and also releasing the stress from the years work. You can literally feel the joy and calm of the season but for some people, something feels missing.

With all the busy and the many activities going on in this season, most of us still have that lingering yearn for connection, shared laughter, and the warmth of family and friends. In this whirlwind of festivity, most of us tend to get swept away, chasing the many holiday concerts, the end of year dinner parties and what have you. Some of us haven’t seen our families, friends or loved ones for a long time due to so many reasons. It may be work, personal issues with them or any other thing. But that shouldn’t be the end of the world. I believe the true magic of the season lies in the arms of those dear to us and not in material things or events.

No matter how you try to resist that urge for those you care about you still feel the loneliness at the end of a long day. You’re left with your thoughts, wondering what could have been different if you just hopped on the next bus or flight to meet your friends and family. Spending time with friends and family adds a different sparkle to the holidays. They are the ones that always make jokes about past events or family get togethers, indulge in silly family traditions and mostly sing off- key to the songs being played. Also, remember they are those who are there for us through the good and bad times, celebrate our victories as their own and keep pushing us to do better all year round.

For some of us, this year has been very good to us while for others it was a terrible one for us. This doesn’t mean the coming year won’t be better, we still have to hope that it will be even better than all the years we have experienced. In this festive season, I will entreat all us to spend quality time with our family and friends. Strengthen those bonds once again and learn to embrace each and every moment you spend with them cos the time we have is never enough for us.

For those of us far away from home, reach out to those you care about. Talk to them, laugh about random stuff and release some stress. Life shouldn’t always be about work and making money. You also deserve a break.

So, let this holiday season be a testament to the bonds that tie us together. Let every hug be a reminder of the warmth we share, let every song be a melody of shared joy. I hope you enjoyed reading this, thank you for your time.
