This is my response to @nozem01’s belated Cycling Sunday ChitChat… I thought that, besides leaving a nice comment for his effort, I should also be part of the conversation thread and bring a proper post, because that’s how I imagined it: all of us, the regulars in this Community and those who arrive from any corner of the world or this Blockchain—in other words, everyone, without exception—talking about what makes us happy.

Here we are all kids again when we’re on our bicycles, aren’t we? And although some take it in a relaxed way, while others push themselves harder to improve, it never stops being fun.
So let’s get talking! I know writing takes time, but it is powerful, it truly is. And when one does it by letting out a little of what we go through, of what we live, it can be very good and healthy, believe me. So, my friend, thank you for being the first, for breaking the ice.
I jumped out of bed with great motivation today when I saw your post. And that is precisely something I love about Hive—how little sparks of inspiration can come from anywhere, bring us together, and make us want to improve a little more every day in every way. I owe much of my inspiration to this Community, and @friendlymoose has been an important part of that.
So I went for a coffee and some biscuits, and here I am.
I’ve also been down with a cold these past few days. A bit of a cough. Well, to tell the truth, quite a cough. But that hasn’t stopped me from doing my routes. And I certainly feel better every time I go out; the cough eases a lot. In fact, I hardly cough at all when I’m on my bike.
Another thing I’ve had is some discomfort in my kidneys and bladder. I don’t know if it’s part of the process we women go through at my age… although since yesterday I’ve been feeling better, after taking some natural remedies. But anyway… let’s not give too much importance to something that can be resolved with the right mindset and by identifying the cause so it can be eradicated.
By the way, can you make me a cute divider for my cycling posts? Mine would need a road bike. Haha, just kidding—it’s just to say yours looks great!
😁
- Do you prefer going out on the bike to enjoy the scenery or to train and improve your performance?
- When you ride for scenery, what kind of landscapes inspire you the most?
- Do you usually plan your routes in advance, or do you prefer to improvise and explore?
I’ve always said that my main interest since I bought my bike has been cycle touring. And also using it as a means of transport in a city where public services are dreadful and make you waste a lot of time. But over time I discovered that my body has changed and, mentally, it does me a great deal of good. So lately I’ve been tempted to do some training and also to make space for a few minutes each day to combine these rides with a bit of fitness at home, using my own body for the workout.
I really enjoy cycling in quiet places without so much traffic; I think I prefer that more. However, reality brings the challenge of using the bike in the city, and throughout all this time it has been rewarding to discover places while riding it. Not long ago I was looking at a post I wrote around this time last year. Here it is. It’s lovely to look back after a year has passed and realise how much we’ve done after all. I’m very happy with all my progress in many ways.

I usually plan my routes, but there have been days when I’ve simply gone off to explore, sometimes on my own, sometimes with friends. This latter option is very interesting if you have the time, if you’re not under pressure from something you need to do or any other kind of commitment. In my view, it’s good for breaking the routine. Because, whether we like it or not, life tends to impose a somewhat repetitive rhythm on us.
And that’s all for now. As I said in the initiative post, you don’t have to answer all the questions. 😜 The initiative is set with a counter. If you feel like it, if you have a bit of time, you can leave your thoughts here. 😃
Sunday ChitChat - If you want good fortune on your next ride... 🚴🍀
Let’s keep talking, learning and engaging. Don’t give up!
