Off to the Ranch #30: The worst of ranch life...

Heeeyho Readers! More updates from our little ranch!

...is the endless hauling of scrap from place A to B to C. {title}
I'm kinda pragmatic. Whenever we have to organize scrap materials, I always try to pick a place that'll facilitate future use. That avoids the hassle of moving the same stuff out of the way for a second time, or third, or fourth. My dad is the opposite. "Put this elsewhere," he says. But where? "Anywhere." His anywhere is often on the way of future builds.
Scrap wood planks

We gotta move a bunch of wood planks from behind our soon-to-be-demolished old barn. It's the kind of avoidable task had we stored the wood out of the way, gaining us time to concentrate on other productive tasks. Life can never be that organized though.
Done

The space is cleaned, slowly. Usable planks to one side, scrap to the other. Just as it feels organized, I remember the pile of scrap that needs some better selection. Goddammit!
There's more!
Nothing goes to waste. A lot of wood is leftover from dad's house construction and other sources. Most will be re-used. Finer wood will become furniture, thus requiring storage inside the barn (that will be demolished, meaning more hauling in the future). Common planks serve to build compost boxes or trail obstacles. Anything else becomes fuel to cook or heat the house. And the ashes go into the compost and back to the soil — a complete cycle. Beautiful.

The issue is the endless hauling. Dad told me to pile the planks near the other planks... exactly where we plan to build our barbecue area! But then again, it's me who will haul everything again in the future. {Sigh}
At least it's organized
Uff. Although in the way, at least things look organized. There's no better feeling at the ranch than seeing spaces clearing, tasks moving forward, and areas getting revitalized.
And so, another pile of wood is born and waiting to be moved again soon...

Together with this...

And that...

Hah! You didn't think my life was that easy, did you? We're the pile of scrap masters. One day this nonsense will end.
I hope you've enjoyed this update and never forget to keep on moving.
Peace.
