Hello my fellow Hivers,
Good morning, How are you all doing today? I hope you had a peaceful and refreshing night’s rest. As for me, this week has been really hectic. I haven’t been as active in Hive as I would’ve loved to be, and that’s because I’ve been deeply buried in my first semester examinations. Honestly, school life can be so demanding sometimes, but we move.
Even though exams have taken a lot of my time, I’ve also been investing my energy in something else that’s been bringing me peace, agriculture. I’ve recently embraced homesteading as a lifestyle, and it’s been such a fulfilling journey. There’s just something about watching plants grow that reminds me of patience, consistency, and care.
This morning, I want to share a little update on a personal project that’s very dear to me my young coconut seedlings growing just beside my bathroom wall. It might sound funny, but yes, I intentionally planted them there so they can benefit from the regular splash of water that comes from bathing. Coconut seeds, like most plants, need a generous amount of water to germinate and grow strong, so it made sense to me to utilize that space.
Now, let me talk a bit about why I’m particularly interested in coconuts. Beyond the joy of watching them grow, coconuts are packed with a lot of health benefits. This fruit is a natural powerhouse. It contains proteins, carbohydrates, essential vitamins and minerals, and even healthy fats. Some people don’t know this, but coconuts can be eaten in various ways. Skilled chefs often use the fleshy part in salads or as ingredients in exotic dishes. Meanwhile, the water inside a coconut is not just refreshing it’s medicinal.
Coconut water is often used as a natural energy drink, especially by athletes or older people who need a gentle energy boost. It helps strengthen muscles and can aid in lowering blood pressure when consumed fresh. It’s also good for the heart and supports the formation of red blood cells. What’s even more amazing is that it has a low sugar content, making it a healthy choice for many people, including those watching their sugar intake.
Interestingly, coconut can also help improve fertility. The fatty acids present in it are said to support the production of hormones and improve cell function, which can be a natural way of boosting fertility for couples having difficulty conceiving.
When it comes to skincare, coconut remains a gem. Drinking the water or eating the flesh regularly can help cleanse the skin from within. It’s known to help clear up pimples, reduce acne, and even fight off skin infections. If you’re looking for something natural to help your skin glow, coconut might just be what you need.
Now, let me briefly walk you through how I’ve been nursing my coconut seeds.
First, I picked mature coconut balls and allowed them to sit for a while. Instead of using containers, I went with planting bags because they allow better water absorption and air circulation. Inside each bag, I filled it with rich loamy soil mixed with decomposed animal waste as manure. Then I gently placed the coconut seed in the middle of the soil. After a few days, with consistent watering, the seed started showing signs of life—green sprouts began to emerge. Once the seedlings are strong enough, I plan to transfer them to a permanent location. Just a tip: never move them with the nursing bag, as this can affect root development.
It’s been an eye-opening and satisfying experience so far, and I hope to see more progress in the coming weeks. Thank you for taking the time to read my little update. I truly appreciate every visit to my page.
Wishing you all a productive day ahead. Stay safe, stay happy, and don’t forget to water your dreams, just like I water my coconuts.
Until next time.
