The first time I read that drug abuse is much more than taking illicit or overdose of drugs, I was flabbergasted. All my life I have tagged drug abusers as basically to be those guys sniffing, smoking and getting injected with all sorts of narcotics. In some ways, I also accepted those taking overdose of counter drugs to be some kind of mild abusers. Like, I have a friend that takes three tablets of paracetamol to ease his headaches. He claimed it works faster than the normal two tablets he should've taken.
One of the most popular teachings of the Sunday School, especially in the children's class, is the parable or story of the Prodigal Son. If one as much as attended Sunday service for an extended period there is a high probability one has heard this parable being explained before.
We have a street parlance for when one misbehaves in a drunken state. We'd say, "shayo na bastard" because the tendency to misbehave after getting drunk is on the exponential side of things. As in, getting drunk and getting high has a way of ripping apart the conscience that holds one back from doing that obviously silly idea that has crossed one's mind on a couple of occasions.
Even till this day I still battle with two serious problems: procrastination and lackadaisical attitude.Of course, procrastination has been discussed again and again. It is a known habit that kills time, ruins lives and waste away destiny. At some point I even came across the phrase, "Royal Procrastinator" on this blockchain. The first day I saw that I couldn't stop laughing because it looks like that was the perfect way to describe a dude like myself. It was hilarious and painful at the same time; it was the truth.
I couldn't hide my surprise/displeasure the first time I heard Wayne Rooney became a manager because he never came across like someone who'd be interested in that aspect of the game. A lot of the top players that went into management and succeeded have shown at one time or the other their love for the tactical and technical sides of the game. Rooney never looked interested in those things. Or, maybe I didn't study him well enough to know if he was interested in such or not.
I am never the type to indulge myself in the wonderful works of motivational speakers and their ability to paint fallacies into reality. At a time when motivational speaking is turning heads and every Tom, Dick and Harry suddenly develops the extraterrestrial ability to motivate, I tend to distance myself from it. However, there was one time I was desperate enough to turn to motivational speakers for solutions to the myriad of problems I was battling.
