I could not find a suitable coffee table; you can call me fussy or eccentric, but I wasn't going to settle for any mass-produced table, so one of my little side coffee tables had to do the job while the search continued!
And that awful red carpet had to go! I must confess I went the Temu route for the carpet; quality not good, but the colours look better. I will have to try and buy a decent carpet sometime next year. Already spent way too much on stuff I did not need before.
The area is misty and very damp, so I had to invest in dehumidifiers to prevent mould as well as an air purifier. I also bought indoor plants that purify the air. I further have to regularly buy moisture removers for the interior cupboards. It is quite amazing just how much moisture the dehumidifiers remove; in rainy weather, I easily empty two litres of water every day just in the living room.
Perhaps I have to acclimatise to this kind of weather, as it could explain the awful bronchitis that's clinging and taking its time to go away?
The before

The coffee table was found in my brother's garage; he's bought a couple of old kists over the years, but had no use for it inside his house. I was able to choose one that was the right size and height. He will restore it next year - sand it down to the original wood and give a coat of wood sealer, but for now, I'm loving it!
I had also been looking for a headboard, and my brother came to the rescue by having one made by a very skilled woodworker who had done a couple of woodwork projects for him. At a fraction of the cost of one in the stores, and it also looks much better! We want to top the white bedside pedestals with the same wood.
I do not like the awful colour of the granite top on my kitchen island and will change it to a black quartz. I managed to find two space-saving wooden benches to make up seating for four.

So, you're going to be shocked to see the dust that was sitting on top of a ridiculous shelf above the kitchen cupboards. My brother came to the rescue again when I realized we'd need a long ladder to clean it each time, plus it was making the kitchen dark and served absolutely no purpose!
The before

No useless shelves, and the kitchen already looks brighter, although I want to change them to white. Lighter colours work way better in a small space than darker colours!

My new house is starting to feel like home. I can't say it enough, but I am so thankful I listened to my brother and his wife and bought property so close to them!
